I've been a longtime reader of the forums here and just today joined because I couldn't hold my tongue any longer.

I've been a fan since the 60s and have seen some horrible teams, but this season takes the cake. The Snyder/Cerrato admin is a total joke, not just in Washington but across the league.

To respond to this thread, I would say that this would be a positive step. Gibbs may be the only person that the Danny would take a backseat to, just out of pure reverence. But all the talk and speculation about who our new coach should be is a waste of time. We should be speculating on who our new GM will be. Personally, I would like to see Bobby Beathard come back, but I think DS dissed him in some way when he first bought the team. The new GM will be the one to make the coaching, scouting, personnel and team admin decisions (as it should be). Gibbs wouldn't take that role, but he MAY be able to get DS to hire the right guy and to get his nose the hell OUT of football operations completely.

Mr. Snyder, if this gets to you at all, Please do the right thing and stick to what your good at. Market the Redskins! Let those you delegate to actually run the football ops do what their good at...and don't ever let the two ends of the spectrum cross again.
Welcome to thewarpath man!

This would be a good move for Snyder. Although a little wary, if Snyder has been consulting with Gibbs already, where has that taken us thus far?
us? haha

The big question would always be, who's in charge? With every win and every lost, who's in charge? People would always attempt to connect the dots leading back to Gibbs.
Kinda like now.. you never know to believe if it was a coach's call.. from vinny or danny.. or both, how the other felt about it.. too much drama

I think that Gibbs would take a step back and just help build though, I can't see him in day to day

I think Gibbs has a network in NASCAR that allows him to know who to pick and who's up & coming. I dont think JG is plugged in to the NFL to know who the hot young talent is.
Yeah I don't know that he has those connections outside of our organization.

Let see (if we're guessing):

Sticking point 1: I get to stay in NC. Was a problem, now not as Danny desparate.

Sticking point 2: Vinny goes - Danny has an unnatural attachment to VC, still a problem.

Sticking point 3: Not a full time job - Danny wants his full attention. Stilll a problem as DS probably willing to say "work from your home, feel free to do other things but make the Redskins your primary focus" to which JG responds "no - if I make them my primary focus it will consume me. If it's my full time job, I will be unhappy not being in DC to control things and I am staying here with my family."
Sticking point 4: body thetans that might enter him when Tom Cruise comes around

If this is true it will be the greatest thing for the franchise. I don't want Coach for GM though. Half his drafts/FA signings were whack as President/Coach, so I hope he does indeed hire a new GM.

Yeah I don't know that he has those connections outside of our organization.

He's got plenty of connections. More importantly he knows people that have connections. Basically, if you have connections inside one organization you have connections with others within the NFL as well.

Either way, the more I hear the more it seems this could really happen but it's not going to be like Parcells necessarily. Gibbs would be like Magic Johnson with the Lakers, have a big time title and be the owner's consigliere if you will. But he would bring in the GM and let that GM run things

I will heart the day that the most legendary figure in franchise history fires one of the worst figures in franchise history.

SS, is there a time frame on this? Is it something that would wait to the end of the season? Even if it does happen, what effect if any would it have on this season?
