Exactly. We've been hearing for a few years how he's the next Walter Payton. He's barely better than a practice squad player and he's received more carries than he really deserved as a #3/#4 back this season. He's failed at making an impact twice with us and once with the Jets.

I've never heard of the new RB, but his scouting report sounds promising and at this point, we need to try new things with some new personnel, on and off the field.

Picking up Levi Jones is overdue. Great move and I'll give the team credit for making it, even if late. If he can stay healthy, he has a lot of potential and really, he's the best FA we could get right now. No team is trading or releasing quality linemen.

I don't think anyone is calling MM Walter Payton. I believe a lot of us saw a good runner who is fast and hard to bring down. No different then what Portis was his first yr here. I am conceeding that perhaps most of you were correct in the sense that MM is being reported to not be able to block or locate where he's supposed to block. Usually that can be taught, however with our wonderful positional coach's we don't get a lot of teaching or developing. So MM sucks, or he's dumber the a box of rocks but either way he sucks....aparently. You will find no more argueing from me. You MM haters were correct.

Does anyone think that Wynn is likely to make a bigger contribution to the team than either Mason or Aldridge could? If not, then doesn't this seem like a really dumb move. It does to me, especially since Portis seems to be struggling. Wynn won't see the field whereas Mason already has. Granted, he didn't do a lot, but it's so early in terms of actual playing time.

Umm, most likely yes. I'm sure they will find a way to stick him in defensively, but honestly I think we should have found some more O-lineman instead of another defensive player or RB. The team is committed to Portis, Betts, and Rock. No matter how much they suck. This new RB/FB most likely won't see the field until he learns the play calls and routes and blocking scheme. Oh, and for those of you who are excited about this move......he was on the practice squad after being picked in the 2007 draft, during 2008 he ran two....thats 2 plays last yr and didn't run any more. Hmmm. What does that tell you....camp scrub. Sounds a lot like MM to me. But we shall all see cause I'm guessing he won't even see the field but if he does it will be after our break to give him time to learn the plays and blocking scheme.

I just don't see why we picked up Wynn when we needed O-lineman? I just wish if they decided to pick up a defensive player they would have picked up a SLB and moved Orakpo to DE solely.

Is there something wrong with our Rookie practice squad FB Eddie Williams? Could they not have promoted him and picked up two O-lineman?

Wynn was picked up for the fill-in punter, not Mason/Aldridge.

But, the answer is yes, he can contribute more than both of them combined.

How do you know? I heard the RB/FB was picked up to replace the punter, Levi replaced Alridge and Wynn replaced MM?

Signing Levi Jones seems like a good move. Resigning Wynn is very questionable. The defensive line is probably the most productive unit on the team. I don't see how an old and slow player is going to help the team. I know nothing about this running back. Hopefully he will be given an opportunity to help the team. I don't think Mason or Aldridge were given a fair chance.

If the Packers and Lions both past on him, that is a red flag. I just dont know anymore...I cant trust any move by the FO as long as Vinny is running things.

Not sure about the Lions. But for what it's worth, apparently the Packers offered him a contract to play RT, and Jones said no. So it seems they didn't pass on him.

Vinny aka "Bobby the Brain Heenan" cut 2 RB's knowing Portis is not 100%.

Portis misses practice with lower-leg problems

Running back Clinton Portis sat out practice today because of leg problems.

"It's really one leg," he said. "It's just my right leg. I've got plantar faciitis, an ankle, the inside of my MCL, and a calf all on my right leg. So if I can get a new lower leg, I'll be fine."

In the 14-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Portis rushed for a season-high 109 yards on 15 carries (a 7.3-yard average). He gained 78 yards on one rush in the third quarter - the longest gain of his career.

Portis acknowledged he has not had much interaction with new play-caller Sherman Lewis, who came out of retirement about two weeks ago to serve as an offensive consultant. Owner Daniel Snyder promoted Lewis, 67, to call plays after stripping Jim Zorn of the responsibility following the team's latest dreary loss to a formerly winless team, which has occurred four times this season.

Lewis is unfamiliar with the team's personnel and knows little about Washington's running game, but Portis expects the running game to work well.

"It ain't hard, I mean, you either run gut, counter, stretch, toss, dive, or draw," Portis said. "You can call it however you want to call it, but them are the only runs in football. For him to be an offensive coordinator for as long as he has, I'm sure he knows that as well. Maybe it's the formations. I don't know why he would say that, but I don't think it's too hard to call the running game."

Ah HA HA HA, I had forgotten that name. I haven't heard someone reference him since 1989.

This is not 7th grade, the word "haters" isn't necessary.

I don't think anyone hates Mason, a lot of can just see that he's had chances and never really showed anything outside of some preseason games.
