Not that it would have been any better, but I think Runyan would be an upgrade over Levi Jones. Bottom line is they are both old and won't be any better than what we got.

Both are old. Both have injury issues. Runyan is a natural right tackle, Jones a natural left. Thus, Jones.

Jones was Cinci's starter last year and, at least, was a competent left tackle for the last several years. Yes, everyone passed on him and, of course, that's a red flag. But really, Jones v. Heyer at the LT spot? Jones.

As a 30 year old myself, I'd like to remind people that 30 is not that old. Runyan is 35, and I think he's more beat up than Jones.

WOW!!!

I mean my only question is why we waited so long to do this, but never late than never right fellas. I think the offense is instantly better w/ Jones at LT. He's very good when healthy and I have to believe w/ all the extra time off he's been working out and getting himself back to form because he had to know a call was coming this season AND this is the chance for him to earn a payday contract after this season.

Damn! Sometimes I forget that when I call some of these guys old, I'm actually older than they are! I'm going home now.:benched:

^^ Honestly, thought Jones was older. 30 ain't a spring chicken in football years. For OL, 30 is pretty much "middle age". Some players can play OL at a high level into their mid-30's. Jones probably has 2-3 good years in him if he can remain relatively injury free.

He could be very good for us next year, if we draft a replacement LT that can learn and step in for a few games as necessary. He's most definitely a stop gap. But then, other than Samuels, our whole OL is stop gap - and now Samuels is gone.

Ok, I guess there's something to like about Jones. I hope he kicked Joey "punkass" Porter's ass.

Las Vegas scuffle

In March 2007, Joey Porter and Jones were involved in a brawl at a Las Vegas casino. Porter still had unresolved ties with Jones from their days in the AFC North between Porter's Pittsburgh Steelers and Jones' Cincinnati Bengals. Porter would go on to play for the Miami Dolphins in 2007. On May 30, Porter pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Porter was docked 3 game paychecks for his actions. Later reports into the incident revealed that it was not just Porter, but also 6 of his friends who attacked Jones.

Yeah I'm thinking along the same lines, possibly a good stop gap for a year or two until we can get a long term solution in here at LT.

I miss Samuels already.

I know that it seems to be either hate him or love him with D Hall, but I wonder if Levi is this year's D Hall. We sign him mid-season and next thing you know he's a starter the next year for us. Jones can play in this league, there's no question about that. The only question is can he stay healthy.
And then everybody hates him next year?
