Since it appears our offense has hit rock bottom, any changes we make next season will be an improvement. It's almost a given that Snyder will go after the best OL he can find through FA. I'm thinking he will go after Marcus McNeil in San Diego and over pay him. If he doesn't get him he will find some lineman to throw some cash to. After we get a FA OL hopefully we'll address additional OL needs in the draft. The way things are going we're sure to get a top 5 pick. Instead of trading the pick for more picks we need to grab Russell Okung, he is the best blind side protector in the draft and a beast in the run. We take 6'6" QB Tony Pike in the 2nd round - a tall QB who can see the entire field and actually throw the ball. After that we just add more depth on the line and maybe grab a running back somewhere. Whar do you guys think? Do you have any FA / Draft combos you would like to see happen?

If it's an uncapped year it will not matter. There will not be a big crop of free agent offensive linemen. There isn't a big pool of them to begin with. Unlike us, other teams covet their linemen.

It's been almost a given every year.. there are no givens around here.

McNeil and another top OL in the draft would be good for a start, we still need a good Center and a OG unless the young guys can step up and fill in.
This is why i said earlier we should trade Landry and Cooley for picks as we have many needs that need to be addressed with young talent. If we had 2 number 1's id say get an OT and maybe a RB like Best from Cal or the guy Ingram from bama. I dont know if they are Sr's or not but if they come out we need a change in the backfield as CP has lost it. Then we could snag a QB in the 2nd like Pike who may be there or im sure a new prospect will emerge by draft time. Im not sold on Bradford or McCoy.

You can move everyone on offense out except the bare bones and building blocks. You can cut bait with Thomas and/or Kelly, Moss, Yoder, Sellers, Betts, Rabach, Samuels, Thomas, Collins, etc, and go bargain basement on a lot of free agents who will be available, and get the depth issue correct from the start.

For the record, we would be signing:

2 quarterbacks
1 running back
1 fullback
2 wide receivers
1 tight end
2 offensive tackles
1 offensive guard
1 center

and probably not breaking the bank for any one player.

And the product wouldn't be very good to begin with. But you could improve it through the draft over time. And no more of the current BS.

You mean we'll have to wait for the team to improve instead of winning now!!?? It's true you really don't know us! :silly:

No matter what we do, unless Vinny is gone we won't change. Norv to Gibbs to Zorn. Vinny must go.

Vinny wasn't here for Norv really, just showing up in 99... Gibbs made his own decisions for the most part it seemed

not to say Vinny shouldn't be blamed at all
