I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think it's a great idea. Even Gibbs gave up playcalling in Gibbs 2.0 and just about everyone agreed that Zorn was taking on too many jobs in trying to be everything. If I was Zorn I'd ask for a written promise (with a million dollar bonus if Danny renigs) that he not be removed until after the season and see how it goes with someone else calling plays. It's still his gameplan, offense and direction.
I have the same hope that you do, that the offense may improve with someone else calling the plays. Some tendencies should be broken up, if nothing else. But there is no guarantee that change will be for the better.
I agree with Dungy. Zorn should be drawing the line on this one, even though he's not. He's delaying the inevitable. He's going down; he might as well go down swinging.

Wasn't this guy initially hired to be the play caller? This whole era has been a bit of a head scratcher.

The Skins have a championship in one area, cynical fans.
If Zorn can't see that this team is sinking fast he shouldn't be the HC anyways. If they can work together to find a solution that gets this team headed in the right direction then everybody will be happy. It's ridiculous to say he should refuse. Hell my boss and I were talking today, and he had a story of a guy who lost his job cuz the boss said come in at 8 and this guy refused. Zorn does need to grow a pair, but he needs to man up and realize that he needs help and not let his ego interfere with finding a winning recipe on this team.
Well said. Plus most of the fans here don't have the balls to tell their on boss no. I think its a good idea for Zorn to give up play calling, just look at our offense this season.

Yep, unless they ended up hiring a HC that wanted it himself.

Like Riggins said in his famous youtube video "Snyders already castrated Zorn"

Why did the FO think Zorn could 'do it all' in the first place?

1. Cheaper
2. Easier to fire 1 man when Cowher,Holmgren,Shanahan and Gruden want to coach again.
We all knew Zorn was a stop gap HC from the beginning that was hired and promoted after the other candidates turned us down.

If Im wrong correct but, doesn't every new HC bring in his own coaches and assistants to teach the team their way of football. Not this, lets pickup this coach here and there then lets find a HC to run the team. I mean if you hire a Offensive Cord. before a HC, who says they run the same offense or for that matter have the same football philosophy.
I just saying thats whats being done here, with the Dan and Vin Show!

well first off he was hired as OC meaning he wouldn't have to do it all, but we knew we wouldn't be able to pull him over just as a glorified QB coach, so he needed a title
eventually we were like heh, nobody is going to be our HC... at that point Zorn could've decided to allow Sherman Smith to call the plays as he found his role, but he didn't
