How many of us before the season started would have bet money that the redskins would have a better record than the cowboys at the end of the season,I did, what with the cowboys with a 41 yr old qb,a washed up rb in eddie george,we have portis, coles, gibbs,it still might happen but very doubtful. Now how many people out there think this team would be 1-4 if Parcells were the coach? That might be blasphemy to some of you out there, but I'm just putting it out there,I love Gibbs, but after todays press conference and his steadfast refusal to replace Brunell really pisses me off,how can he stick up for him,it's so obvious the arm strenghth is not there.Plus he gave Brunell a shitload of money,is he afraid of admitting he made a mistake,it sure looks like it to me from the outside looking in.What happened to Brunell's scrambling ability anyway? Of all the qbs known for their scrambling,Tarkenton,Young,Montana,Theisman,Elway, Cunningham, they all still had their wheels at the end of their careers,Brunell makes Bledsoe look like Micheal Vick, well not quite, but you get my point

Hell no. Threatening players and yelling won't change this team. Showing the positives and negatives for every game is what they need. Setting expectations that the team knows they can achieve is more affective than humiliating grown men in front of thousands of people in a stadium.

I'd like to see Ramsey get a shot. But do we want a coach who doesn't stick up for his players? I think Gibbs feels that if he made the switch he'd basically be saying "I give up on this season"

That's exactly what the message would be. To bring Ramsey in who doesn't know or understand the plays and struggle to get the play in on time and then read the defense is telling Brunell, I'd rather have a young QB whose totally out of sink with my system than have you in with a struggling offense.

I get the opposite message. I think leaving Brunell in is giving up on the season. Brunell can't do anything, and we've all seen how some QBs have come off the bench and sparked a team into a rally. Him staying course is not only somewhat stupid and stuborn, it sends the wrong message, in my opinion.

Interesting how for years we (we, being the general Redskins public) have complained about the lack of stability in the organization and at QB (Friesz, Green, Johnson, George, Banks, and so on) and yet here we are getting upset when Gibbs says he wants to stick with Brunell at QB

I think this situation is a lot like Feely and Fiedler. You can change the QB's every game and the result will remain the same. No running game.

The running game will never get going while there are 8 or 9 players in the box and we are missing the one true run blocker on the offensive line . We are changing more short passes and screens to fustrate the blitz.
The most anoying thing is had the O just gone out and taken a knee every play in the third quater on sunday I think we could have won making thier offence beat us (OK they had the ST TD) . Maybe the key thing is for us not to play secondd halfs of games.

tampa went won and was better off... i think we'll be better off too. people may have complained about lack of stability at QB, but i wasn't one of them, and its hard to stand behind an 83 yard game (and its something like 18 yards less than that with the sacks), an int and a fumble taken back for a TD (even if its not his fault, its not like he was breaking the 50 yard line to lessen a fumble's negative impact)

They need to start Ramsey for some fresh impetus and change the play calling up a bit.
First season was always going to be tough.
REMEMBER Dick Vermeil was facing the sack in St Louis and then..... took them to the Superbowl.
It is too early to panic. This is Joe Gibbs we are talking about.
As for Parcells.... he would come in here, give up a bunch of draft picks (if we didn't beat him to it) bring in some vets like Richie Anderson and then he would stick around for three years and depart, leaving us with an old roster and maybe a couple of play-off appearances.
I like Parcells but I'd rather see it work for Joe.
