Actually, how many teams do not have key players that they cannot recover if they lose?
Ex. we get Haynesworth and the Titans D is?
True, very true

If so, it makes no difference. MTK 10-12-2009, 09:40 AM An in season move for Shanahan definitely makes no sense at all. As for after the season, we'll see. redsk1 10-12-2009, 09:40 AM Actually, how many teams do not have key players that they cannot recover if they lose? Ex. we get Haynesworth and the Titans D is? Every team has key players that they don't want to lose. The difference w/ us is that our depth is really bad. Our #1 backup, Rinehart, plays 2 games and then is benched b/c i assume he isn't very good. If he was he'd still be in there. The guy replacing him, hasn't played in a couple years and just lost 100 lbs. Batiste may not be able to even make another roster. Also, Heyer is a starter for us and he's not starter quality. The problem w/ all of this, is that we didn't address this in last years draft when we had 3 2nd rounders. Part of the reason, is that we had other areas of need too. The reason we had other areas of need is b/c we have been wasteful of draft picks in the last 10 years+. It's a giant snowball that gets bigger and bigger. Check out this information that I ran accross the other day. In the last 10 years... tal number of picks in the first 4 rounds: Tennessee – 53 (56% of picks are in the first 4 rounds) Philadelphia – 44 (54%) New England – 43 (54%) Indianapolis – 42 (52%) Baltimore – 42 (52%) Pittsburgh – 40 (51%) NY Giants – 40 (54%) Washington – 27 (43%) # of offensive linemen drafted (OG+OT+C): Philadelphia – 17 (21% of all picks were offensive linemen) New England – 15 (19%) Baltimore – 15 (19%) Pittsburgh – 15 (19%) Indianapolis – 14 (17%) Tennessee – 13 (14%) Washington – 8 (13%) NY Giants – 8 (11%) Czabe.com: Not Exactly A Blueprint for Winning Football (http://czabe.blogspot.com/2009/10/not-exactly-blueprint-for-winning.html) Hence, our depth isn't generally going to be as good as other teams. that's why we need a GM, an intellegent GM, here. skinsfan69 10-12-2009, 09:45 AM I've joked about it off and on for about a year now...but I do really believe that there is a strong possibility that Brian Billick will end up being our next head coach I sure hope not. He's a Mr. Know It All but his offenses in Balt. sucked. CooleyFanOV 10-12-2009, 09:51 AM Which is why I would prefer M.Schottenheimer as GM, move Cerrato to a more executive/player contract roll, bring in B.Schottenheimer as HC from the Jets, and allow him to assemble his own Asst. Coach's, pray for an uncapped yr so we can dump all the big contracts and try to replace some of the older guys especially O-line, pick up a couple more younger guys for the D-line. Pick up a couple more LB's. Dump Betts, Cartwright, and evaluate Portis as keeping or trade bait or simply cut(with no CAP). Give total football control to M.Schottenheimer, DS just simply write the checks and enjoy the game. Ding ding ding ding...ding! Someone make sure this gets to Snyder's desk ASAP! Before he can go out and hire another token. SmootSmack 10-12-2009, 09:54 AM I sure hope not. He's a Mr. Know It All but his offenses in Balt. sucked. Yeah but his offenses in Minnesota were beast...every other year. redsk1 10-12-2009, 09:59 AM Yes, pray for a uncapped year and do some dumping. |
