Luxorreb 10-07-2009, 06:07 AM Zorn hopefully will improve with an offensive consultant, but what does that mean that Sherman Smith has been doing? I agree Zorn has too much on his plate, but he's managing a struggling 2-2 record still... Zorn is not a bad guy or necessarily bad coach. Players like him, people like him. He is inexperienced as a play caller, OC, HC. Even if Holmgren comes to DC (and I'd still rather have Shanahan) I would think Jim Zorn would still have a job. We need a GM. Things that bother me about Holmgren are facts such as Hasselbeck being his QB. To blame Zorn is too easy at this point. Danny needs to let someone with football knowledge run this team as a GM. No more Cerrato and no more Snyder rich kid in a candy store crap. Deion and Bruce don't get ya Superbowls. It's people like Art Monk, Darrell Green, Clint Didier, Doug Williams, John Riggins, Geris White, Gary Clark, Virgil Seay, etc, etc, etc.
Luxorreb 10-07-2009, 06:17 AM I just read the text from Cerrato words via press conference yesterday. Either he's socially inept or I hate him.
53Fan 10-07-2009, 08:11 AM Business people often bring in consultants. Snyder is a businessman and Vinny has been involved in bringing in consultants before, they did it in SF while Vinny was there. Lewis is an expert on the WCO and nobody else on Zorns staff is as far as I know. Gibbs didn't lose his job when they brought Saunders in. I don't think there is any subtraction in this addition, at least not for Zorn, unless we fail to progress on offense.

Good post, and as you say the Dan needs to grow up on the quick trigger....
Maybe this is an indication of that coming to fruition? I cannot imagine that the entire staff will remain intact or that it should as the team obviously is.....challenged in all area's. Perhaps changing the structure to some degree, and adding some support will serve better than blowing it up?

skins89moss 10-07-2009, 08:34 AM I'm glad to see that the front office is taking steps to help improve the offense by bringing in a coach like Sherman Lewis with his west coast back ground. This move means we need help to get the offense more production which could help both Zorn and our young WR corp. I respect Zorn more for being open to this idea to bring in a coach with so much experience that it can only improve our team. Lets hope Lewis can design some plays to get our WR open.
Green1 10-07-2009, 09:00 AM I think its a good move. Zorn needs help with playcalling. So he can stop calling that same running play ever 1st down. I think if Sherman Lewis helps the O, Zorn will be fired.

The core of the problem is that the Skins just dont have the talent. This addition wont hurt but I dont look for much difference since its still the same players that have proven over and over that they just dont have it.
REDSKINS1980 10-07-2009, 09:55 AM Lets be honest, Cerrato is doing everything possible save his job. If this team doesnt turn around or doesnt establish itself for the upcoming years. He will be joining Jim Zorn in the unemployment line.
Chico23231 10-07-2009, 09:59 AM Bottom line is toooooooo late. What are the chances we are running the same offense next year with the same head coach and quarterback? I would think relatively low...Now it would be a great story if he comes in and waves a magical wand and everything is good and we make the playoffs, but midseason? Too little, too late. Maybe he can line up at RT or replace Reinhart at guard...but I think a little too late to address O-Line issues as well.
skinsfan69 10-07-2009, 10:16 AM Hold your horses Skinsfan69. Who hired Zorn? All the football critics thought that was a very disfunctional move to hire Zorn to be the QB coach and then make him the HC. If Zorn is fired during or after the season this will only further prove to all the football critics that Synder stills has no clue how :)to run a NFL Team. I think we need to be fair and see how Zorn finishes out the season to judge him. I do like this move to bring in Sherm Lewis who has a ton of WC offense experience.
We're going on 12 games of almost unwatchable offense. Someone is going to take the fall.
