tryfuhl 10-04-2009, 01:19 AM None of this should exonerate Zorn. Losing to the Lions will turn up the heat on anyone, and rightfully so. He has everything to prove still as a head coach, and it might never work out. But firing him offers no solution, especially with no rising young coach on staff to take over on an interim basis.
After 19 games he's 9-10, identical to Gibbs' record after 19 games in his stint with Snyder. Both clubs had inept offenses and incomplete rosters, with long-time starting right tackle Jon Jansen (http://www.nfl.com/players/jonjansen/profile?id=JAN692150) commenting at one point that Gibbs' scheme was stuck in 1991. It's nothing new. And without major changes to the way the club is operated, it will continue to occur.
Don't be so quick to point fingers at Zorn for Redskins' issues (http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story?id=09000d5d813163b0&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true)
GMScud 10-04-2009, 01:33 AM Pretty much. This failures of this organization are trickling down from the top dog. I've gotta question some of Zorn's in-game decisions, but at some point Danny has to learn. It's cliche, but if you do what you always done, you're gonna get what you've always got. And that's mediocrity. Or worse.
Sure, he could go make Zorn the sacrificial lamb, but the next guy in queue will have the same problems.
Dirtbag59 10-04-2009, 03:30 AM I saw him outside Redskin HQ on NFLN last week and he wasted no time ripping into Snyder and Cerato. I honestly find it hard to believe that Snyder recommended him for the NFLN job. Anyway it's funny how things work when we suck we'll listen to anyone who will complain about the team when we're awesome we'll kill anyone who talks trash about the team. I must admit that this is something I'm guilty of.

This is the type of thing that changes on a minute basis for me but in light of your comment I think Cowher would be the perfect guy to coach us. He's personable enough for Snyder to like him but firm enough to keep him at arms length when it comes to personnel decisions.

That was a smart move by Snyder because it got JLC off of the WP Redskins beat where JLC could bash Snyder on a daily basis.
As usual, nothing new from JLC. I imagine that he reads blogs and message boards and then regurgitates whatever he finds there.
Green1 10-04-2009, 09:02 AM Some of that is true, however the Gibbs comparison is not. Zorn only changed the passing offense nothing else has changed; Running plays, Defense, and QB. Gibbs when to the playoffs the 2nd season of his return having to overhall O D and personnel. Lets see what Zorn does.

.
Obviously he wanted him out of town.
dmvskinzfan08 10-06-2009, 09:33 PM Maybe that's why he is being less critical of us on NFL Network than he was at the Washington Post..lol

Its probably true. If he is working national media he doesn't have the time to look that in depth into Skins issues. So he takes the stuff he knows, probably looks at skins boards, the WP, and compiles it.
Most national sports media is a joke anyways.
skinsfan69 10-06-2009, 10:00 PM I don't have a problem w/Zorn's record. It's his play calling and lack of diversity in the offense. If your offense is lacking playmakers then you've got to get more diverse...for instance I think we should be running some type of wildcat w/ Portis and Betts in the red zone. It just gives the defense something else to prepare for. Also it seems we only have two or three running plays. Also where are the slip screens to Moss? A defensive coordinator must have an easy week preparing to defend our offense.
mcarey032 10-06-2009, 10:16 PM Don't worry, Dan will get some other puppet to do his bidding. He will promote Sherman smith to be the coach because there won't be a coach with any type of name that is going to lead this team because of the way Dan Snyder is. He wants to be "THE GUY". Got news for you Dan, all the really good owners get their close ups on Monday Night Football and the announcers talk about how successful they are, but what happens with teams like the steelers, colts, and pats is that they hardly ever show the GMs. Know why that is? Because the GMs don't need to be in the forefront and the owners of those franchises don't seek the spotlight like you do.
Does it really matter if you hire the guy who picks the team or does it really have to be you who picks the players? Far as I am concerned, you haven't gotten it done. Step back and let the professional anglers take over. You clearly don't know how to fish for big time game.
