Agree, and his living in NC doesnt hurt.
If i'm not mistaken, Cowher lives in Raleigh, about 5 minutes from where I live. Its 2-1/2 hours from Charlotte. Fed Ex field is 4-1/2 hours from Raleigh. I don't think the difference in distance inofitself is substantial enough to make him pick one team over the other. Cowher would certainly have more prestige if he succeeded in Washington in the NFC-East. However, Carolina's organization itself is much more attractive. At the end of the day, I think he choses carolina, though.
