It can't all be put on Zorn just like it cannot all be put on Campbell. As much as it pains me to say we cannot even put it all on the FO, however I do think they need to seriously change the way they run things esp if things are to truly get better.

I think it can all be put on the FO. Organizations, companies, teams are ran from the top down. Player problems are a direct reflection of the management

That was a smart move by Snyder because it got JLC off of the WP Redskins beat where JLC could bash Snyder on a daily basis.
As usual, nothing new from JLC. I imagine that he reads blogs and message boards and then regurgitates whatever he finds there.
Now he just does it nationally on NFL Network. That's like taking away a semi-automatic handgun and then giving that same person an RPG. Sure he has less shots but now his shots pack and even bigger punch.

I saw him outside Redskin HQ on NFLN last week and he wasted no time ripping into Snyder and Cerato. I honestly find it hard to believe that Snyder recommended him for the NFLN job. Anyway it's funny how things work when we suck we'll listen to anyone who will complain about the team when we're awesome we'll kill anyone who talks trash about the team. I must admit that this is something I'm guilty of.
This is the type of thing that changes on a minute basis for me but in light of your comment I think Cowher would be the perfect guy to coach us. He's personable enough for Snyder to like him but firm enough to keep him at arms length when it comes to personnel decisions.
Cowher's personality wont mesh with DS's and they both know it. Cowher isnt coming here.

The Panthers are pretty much gift-wrapped for Cowher if he wants it

There's only one way to come to a reasonable conclusion in regards to Zorn's moderate success to this point, ( I say moderate because so far he's a 500 coach.) There are deficiencies beyond his control, he is the HC and ultimately must accept responsibility for both success as well as failure. However, I have been more than willing to give Zorn the benefit of the doubt because all the parts neccessary are not in place. Once all the parts are in place (if that ever happens) and the tream still lacks in performance, then maybe it would be time to take a harsher look.
For now Zorn just needs to remember what Steve Largent reminded him of when he first came here to Washington.
Like it or not it's a sink or swim business and Zorn needs to win games, regardless of his inexperience. Of course you can't put it all on him but at the end of the day he will be the first to go if the team doesn't get on track.

So the front office and ownership are calling plays? OK, good to know.

Pretty much. This failures of this organization are trickling down from the top dog. I've gotta question some of Zorn's in-game decisions, but at some point Danny has to learn. It's cliche, but if you do what you always done, you're gonna get what you've always got. And that's mediocrity. Or worse.
Sure, he could go make Zorn the sacrificial lamb, but the next guy in queue will have the same problems.
Allegedly, when Gibbs left, Snyder told Cerrato he had two years to turn the team around. So if thats true, we can expect/hope for Cerrato and Zorn both to be gone after this season and Snyder will hire a GM with total authority (i.e. he overrules snyder) and a proven head coach. Any plan other than that and we won't be able to remain competitive in the division.
