GTripp0012 09-27-2009, 07:34 PM Problems go beyond Greg Blache. Problems lie in talent level. It's not like we don't have young defensive guys on the bench though.
This isn't the offense which just sort of has to stay the course and hope for internal development. We've spent 3 of the last 4 years rebuilding the defense, and if the current guys aren't going to get it done, you can lose with the young backups (like Barnes, Tryon, Montgomery, Jarmon, Orakpo at RE, Blades, Westbrook, etc).
It might not be any better, but until you find out of the young talent can actually play, you don't have a talent issue.
CRedskinsRule 09-27-2009, 07:34 PM Turns out we still have yet to find that one guy who can score...while on the sideline.
Or on the field for that matter.
Campbell made good use of Rock on the late TD drive.
Blache gone would not hurt my feelings.
duetsch215 09-27-2009, 07:35 PM i thought Blache called the right plays but i think Zorn should be accountable because for 3rd straight week, the entire team wasnt motivated.
hagams 09-27-2009, 07:41 PM Someone needs to be punished, and it isn't JC. It was really clear today, that we got out coached. JC had a really good game passing the rock, but we still lack the play calling creativity to push it in. This is probably going to be the one time that Snyder doesn't jump to a quick decision. This will last all year long, and I think it's going to be a painful one.
HTTR!!!!!!
wolfeskins 09-27-2009, 07:41 PM i thought the defense would play a lot of press man to man because of our improved d-line but our corners are giving such a huge cusion it's rediculous(sp). i'm extremely disappointed in the defense sofar this season.
btw, i agree with the comment about making orakpo a full time pass rusher, forget that lb crap.
53Fan 09-27-2009, 07:42 PM I think my position on Blache is pretty clear by now. If anyone is over-rated it's him. Portis fails to get one yard and it's not his or the o-lines fault, it's Zorns. Sellers drops a TD pass that hits him right in the hands and Zorns a bad playcaller. The offense is going up and down the field better than it has in years, but the players make stupid mistakes once they get inside the redzone and it's Zorns fault.
The defense can't tackle, can't get off the field, plays too far off the receivers, can't get to the QB, partially because the best pass rushing DE to come out of college last year is running around chasing TE's instead of the QB, and Blache basically tells everyone they don't understand defense whenever he gets questioned. We didn't draft an 0-lineman with our first pick, we drafted a DE. We didn't sign the best o-lineman available in free agency, we signed the best DT. We signed a DE in the supplemental draft. We resigned Hall to a huge contract. How much exactly does Blache need for us to have a defense that can get some 3 and outs, some turnovers, and more than 1 sack a game? How much do we need to stop Detroit from marching 99 yards?
When he was dismissed in Chicago he didn't get any offers to be a DC anywhere else that I know of. He came here to coach the line for Greg Williams and had the title of DC in name only, Williams ran the "D". Stafford looked like a probowl QB today and it's inexcusable. Blaches comments were that there is a reason the Lions picked him #1. There is also a reason why they were 0-2 before they played us and Stafford had 5 picks in those games. Our offense needs work, but mainly the players need to stop making mistakes in the redzone. We've gotten better players on defense but I have'nt seen any improvement, in fact, we've gotten worse. Blache should be held accountable and if he doesn't like it he can leave.

How are other teams motivated? Does this signal a problem with the players we sign? The direction of the franchise? Why do we seem to talk about motivation year in and year out? Are players just coming to DC for a big pay day?

the announcers were saying that during the end of the game, when the skins were in a no huddle, that campbell was calling the plays. if thats true then i say let campbell call all the plays for now on because he did a pretty good job.
