pg86 09-27-2009, 05:25 PM Ok heres some confidence...91 Started like this too Dirtbag59 09-27-2009, 05:25 PM I would seriously look at having Mitchell take over Devin Thomas spot, Thomas is a disappointment. Could have had Chilo Rachel or Jordy Nelson but no. We took the lazy guy who was a one year wonder. In all fairness Malcolm Kelly seems like he's going to be a pretty decent receiver. Still Mitchell should be allowed to be active though the reports of him killing our starting DB's seem to be a little less impressive these days. Paintrain 09-27-2009, 05:27 PM But he finished the season 8-3. In year two he only lost one game. So after he started 0-5 he got better. Jim Zorn went 6-2 and then turned around and went 3-10 in his next 13. Kinda of a big difference isn't it? Yeah, I may cyber-punch the next person who says 'Joe Gibbs started 0-5'. It's hard because we hadn't had any success since Gibbs, we need to realize the era of Gibbs and the Hogs is long over and done. I really wish Gibbs had not come back because it's like hooking up with a old girlfriend from high school. It seems like a good idea at the time and it's kinda fun, but not as much as the first time and afterwards you realize you were chasing a past you can never recapture. Zorn is rapidly descending into Rich Kotite territory. Ruhskins 09-27-2009, 05:27 PM I think Zorn limps on to the bye. Then we go with an interim from the current staff--but it's hard because you can't just institute a new system. This season will play out with Zorn's scheme whoever is calling the plays. We're pretty locked in, I think. To everyone who wants to move Gray up, isn't he the secondary coach, the secondary which is getting beat like a drum? My guess is we limp out the year, either with Zorn or an interim, and then hire a new staff, IF WE CAN!!! Remember: no really good prospect wants to come here, given the FO culture. Why ruin your future? Serious question: do you re-sign JC? Drafting a QB is a crap shoot. NOt sure what vets will be available. I think JC has looked ok, given we have NO run game. At all. WTF? What a mess. Well, we have another winnable game (on paper) next week. We'll keep muddling along I guess... (PS: was it just me or did the refs just suck ass today? Wow.) Not that it would have mattered in the game, but yes they missed a lot of calls...the retracted facemask called, and I remember seeing at least one encroachment not called. Although they did miss a PI by Carlos Rogers. I hate to say this, but I'm glad the Redskins loss. I mean at least with a loss you can be completely pissed off. Had they pulled the win, well we would have had another week of being pissed at the terrible playcalling/play of the team, but sitting at 2-1. SC Skins Fan 09-27-2009, 05:29 PM Ok heres some confidence...91 Started like this too I do not know why I feel compelled to respond, but no it didn't. They beat Detroit 45-0 in the first game and went 11-0 to start the year. Dirtbag59 09-27-2009, 05:29 PM I also want to point out that the 49ers focused on their O-line the past few years and as a result have looked pretty good this year. In fact I'm willing to bet their O-line was one of the main reasons they were able to compete against the Vikings today without Gore. SFREDSKIN 09-27-2009, 05:29 PM Ok heres some confidence...91 Started like this too No it didn't. We were 11-0 at one point. SBXVII 09-27-2009, 05:29 PM Ok, I'm trying to calm down. At this point if I was DS I would bring in Holmgren to act as an advisor to assist Zorn. If Zorn's not having it fire Zorn and let Holmgren take over the team. Keep Orakpo at DE full time, put Wilson at full time SLB and hope we have someone who can spell Wilson at LB periodically, play all our rookie WR's Thomas, Kelly, and Mitchell as much as possible so they are somewhat NFL experienced for next yr. I know Moss was not the problem but I would use him as a situational player only just to give the young guys experience. Play Collins starting this week. JC is not getting it done. Start looking at other viable options for the right side of the O-line. Either trade out someone or bring someone from outside the team. Play Mason and Alridge for no other reason but to give them experience. Start Barnes, move Landry to SS, and bring in Moore or whoever is a true FS. Also stop playing players out of their positions like Landry, Orakpo, and so on. SC Skins Fan 09-27-2009, 05:31 PM Could have had Chilo Rachel or Jordy Nelson but no. We took the lazy guy who was a one year wonder. In all fairness Malcolm Kelly seems like he's going to be a pretty decent receiver. Zorn is rapidly descending into Rich Kotite territory. I think people forget that Gibbs pretty much left the team hanging when he retired the second time. Had he stayed another year, we could have had a better coaching search situation for this season. Eh, oh well, could've, should've, would've. |
