I beg to differ
Mississippi has produced several NFL stars:
• The late Walter Payton retired from the Chicago Bears after the 1987 season as the league's all-time leading rusher with 16,726 yards.
•Jerry Rice set the NCAA single-season record for touchdown catches (28) before playing 20 NFL seasons and establishing career records of 22,895 receiving yards and 197 receiving TDs.
• Active pros include quarterbacks Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers and Steve McNair of the Baltimore Ravens and wide receiver Eric Moulds of the Houston Texans.
"You think about some of the state's pro athletes, Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, (punter) Ray Guy, they were the best at each one of those positions," Favre says.
L.C Greenwood, Jackie Slater are also from Mississippi among many others not mentioned.
I'm not an South Carolina native (or even a fan of the place), just exiled here for the moment, but the palmetto state has more Hall of Famers per capita than any other state. Just saying.
