Davis is bigger than Cooley and has great hands too. Davis is also more athletic. I love Cooley to death but I could see us getting a couple of picks for him in the offseason to start the rebuilding process along with Moss and Portis. huh??? MTK 09-12-2009, 05:32 PM -- TWO TIGHT ENDS: Don't be surprised to see the Redskins line up in a two-tight-end formation Sunday. The Giants' defensive line is the league's best, and the Redskins need to be smart, creative and efficient in trying to protect quarterback Jason Campbell. "Obviously, with the Giants, you're talking a great defense, a great line," Campbell said. "Those guys do a great job putting pressure on the quarterback and disrupting the timing of your offense. "Whenever you play any team, you know you have to have your pass pro set. You have to get your pass pro right against any defense, but especially with the Giants." Led by Pro Bowl defensive ends Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora, New York applies immense pressure from the edge, which could make things difficult for tackles Chris Samuels and Stephon Heyer in the opener. The Redskins probably need to help Heyer on the right side as much as possible -- and Samuels at left tackle at times as well -- which means they'll have to commit a running back or a tight end in protection on many plays. Zorn rarely used a two-tight-end set last season because Fred Davis looked lost, but Davis made plays in the preseason and, most importantly, was where he needed to be at the right time. "After last year, I just wanted to work hard and show the coaching staff I'm ready to do this," Davis said. "I feel like I've done that. I'm ready to do what I need to do if I'm out there with Chris [Cooley], and I know what I need to know if they need me to be in there for Chris. I'm ready." Washington Redskins Coach Jim Zorn Has Healthy List Of Options for Active Roster - washingtonpost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/11/AR2009091103757_2.html) CRedskinsRule 09-12-2009, 05:43 PM Personally, I would love to see a 2 TE set, with CP in the backfield and SM and MK wide as the first play from scrimmage. I can't imagine the different play combos we could run from that. It's gonna be a fun season. htownskinfan 09-12-2009, 05:44 PM -- TWO TIGHT ENDS: Don't be surprised to see the Redskins line up in a two-tight-end formation Sunday. NYCskinfan82 09-12-2009, 07:03 PM It's the first game if they don't use him this game it's no big loss they use him the next, I do beleive we will see him this game though. itvnetop 09-12-2009, 07:16 PM So are you his real brother? I'm fairly certain it is (based on his contributions to the USC board). And BFD = Beast for Days. Trust. Skinny Tee 09-12-2009, 07:50 PM just asked him about jarmon tossing him like a rag doll in practice he said hell naw i tangled foot with the o lineman thats how that happened I know I'm entertaining the thought of you being F. Davis's actual brother but can you ask if him if he is the 2nd or 3rd string as of this Sunday. SirClintonPortis 09-12-2009, 11:29 PM Two TE sets basically create two 'strong sides' for the running game, and Davis being a mismatch for LBs is obvious. However, he and JC always manage to not be on the same page when the spotlight shines on him and JC, so here's hoping those kinks are worked out. Nice to have Davis's bro on board here too. T.O.Killa 09-13-2009, 02:02 PM Even though I dont think he is forgotten, I think we will see a heavy dose of him in this game in two tight end sets. |
