I feel like his hype really died down after fumbling twice in a preseason game.

It has been said many times and I'll say it once more.
When it comes to knowledge, experience, ability to succeed, etc, there are reasons why Coaches and their staffs coach and fans bitch?
Because that is what our qualifications allow us to do..........get it? I doubt the Skins staff have overlooked any aspect of "player use" and have plans to use them where most useful.
This is not to say a fan has never had an original idea, and a coach has never been wrong, but AT LEAST give our coaching staff credit for the obvious.....Fred will play
Why is it so obvious that Fred will play? Last time I checked 3rd string TEs don't see the field much. I hope you're right, but as far as I can see he hasn't done much to earn too many minutes.

My memory seems to think that Portis is always in praise of Davis ...maybe he didn't get the memo to keep our "007 Agent" under wraps.

Davis will get his opportunities this year, but playing behind a pro bowl TE he's only going to be a situational player. Here's hoping he makes the most of the opportunities he gets, possibly in two TE sets. I'm really rooting for Davis to succeed.

I didn't know that I was coming off as bitching. I just posed a question of why we haven't heard anything about F. Davis pushing for more playing time.

I'm aware that coaches have more on field involvement with players and thus an intimate knowledge of who should be playing, however if Davis is 3rd string TE and the team is fine with that, than he is being held to a lower expectation than his 2nd round counterparts.

Keep in mind too that he technically is the most athletic of the picks as we had to draft WR for need last year.

Yeah Davis probably didn't help himself much fumbling twice that game. But like 53 said it's no surprise he isn't getting attention when there's excitement swirling around a WR corp that spent years in the doldrums. Mitchell alone is enough to overshadow Fred.

Exactly, who talks about 3rd string tight ends? He was a lame duck last year, fumbles this preseason. Lets worry about the people who are starting.

Maybe he can't block. No one is talking about Yoder either. A lot of starting TEs don't get much attention, let alone the #2 or #3. I'm sure they'll fine a way to work him into the game plan. The more weapons defenses have to prepare for the better... which reminds me of why I like running back platoons... but I digress;)

I dunno, I guess I just figured it's because he's behind one of the best TE's in the league in CC, and (I may be wrong about this) Yoder is prob just a better blocking TE, which is often what you want from that position.

Better protection, better WRs, 2nd year in the system for Campbell, Fred Davis, Zorn's second season, more plays inserted into the game plan... it all adds up to a MUCH IMPROVED OFFENSE! If the Skins can average 3-5 more point a game and at least maintain their defensive standing from last year, they will be a FORCE! If they score more and the Defense is better, sky's the limit! Is it Sunday yet?!?!?!
