Obama's speech to students today724Skinsfan 09-08-2009, 09:03 AM Here's a link for anyone interested in reading what he's going to say at noon to the students across America. Oh the horror! firstdown 09-08-2009, 10:18 AM So why is this a big deal? The President encouraging kids to work hard and stay in school? Oh the horror! The problem came when Obama's staff or who ever came up with the idea wanted to have the children write an essay to themself on what they can do to help Obama. I think if they would have asked the kids to write on what they could do to help the US there would not have been the fuss. I'm sure after all this attention they have reviewed his speech and changed and removed anything that would be controversial. Not sure why parents are now bitching about this when they send their kids to goverment run schools, have teachers that are goverment employees, and most belong to the left leaning teachers union. That one reason my children go to private schools. I wonder how many parents who are up in arms over this have actually read what he's going to say. Hog1 09-08-2009, 11:18 AM I don't know, I think the outrage runs deeper than that. I think it was just released today or yesterday so most could only go on the essay thing. From what I have heard the speech is pretty much go to school and work hard kind of stuff. At this point it really does not matter if he changed the speech or not if this is correct no harm done. Hog1 09-08-2009, 11:25 AM I have no problem with it and who knows..........perhaps some kids will benefit from it? redsk1 09-08-2009, 11:26 AM I'm republican (generally) and I think it's great. Others have done it, and all should do it and more often. MTK 09-08-2009, 11:39 AM What have I missed? Outrage? For what? Over his speech. Some parents are holding their kids out of school because of it. wolfeskins 09-08-2009, 11:47 AM Over his speech. Some parents are holding their kids out of school because of it. i didn't even know about this speech, till i saw it on the warpath. i think it's good for presidents to speak to the children, as long as they say the right things. |
