Just wondering not saying he did it or didn't, but why when Big Ben was accused of rape everyone says he's innocent but when Merriman is accused you get the "his ass is grass" statement. Maybe what Dirtbag said is true. Don't jump to conclusion.

I understand your point, but there are two major differences.

1. In Ben's case, the complainant waited for a year to file a lawsuit
In Shawn's case, the complainant called the cops at the point of the incident.

2. No criminal charges were filed or pursued in Ben's case
Shawn was arrested by cops at the alleged scene.

does either of those rule out innocent until proven guilty, no, but they do leave different first impressions.

Wait a second, how long had she been dating him? Last time I heard she was bedding some girl.

Anyway. Chris Brown'ing girls is really not the smartest move ever. Come on now, I thought these guys had learned that by now after that whole fiasco.

Obviously I'm guilty of that from my opening post but in all honesty I now feel that the second explanation is probably what happened, especially given Tila's reputation, and if thats the case Merriman should actually be commended. I've had times were I was way to passive when I knew that friends were going to attempt to drive under the influence. In fact last fall there was a guy that I didn't know very well but he was obviously tanked at a party that I was attending. Shortly afterwards he got in his truck, drove over a curve and almost got T-Boned by an oncoming car that promptly honked it's horn. Part of me thought it was kind of funny but at the same time I obviously had a grip on the situation and yet I didn't do anything to stop it.

Maybe he could have gone about it better but if the explanation holds up he actually did a good thing. I mean if there's anyone I'd expect to have problems with alcohol it's Tila Tequila, look at her "last" name.

As far as Big Ben goes, well I guess that Ben has a different reputation then Shawn Merriman. Publicly he's seen as the type of guy, outside of a motorcycle accident and a few drunk pics, thats more of a wholesome family type and it's hard to believe that a guy like him would actually sexually assault someone. The mans idea of rebellion is writing Jesus saves on his cleats during games. I mean I know he's not a saint but he's not exactly a huge party guy either.

Merriman on the other hand has a repuatation for living a fast and furious type lifestyle, I mean for God sakes up to this point he was going steady with Tila Tequila. On top of that his history with steroids pretty much sealed a conclusion in everyones mind that has been posting on ESPN, SI, and PFT. If you look at the comments you can't go far without a poster suggesting roid rage. I'd imagine if Mark McGwire was ever in a similar situation you would see the same line of commentary.

Just saw on ESPN that she had no evidence of being assaulted. Lets be serious Shawne Merriman is 270lbs. Tila Tequila is maybe 105 wet holding a brick. If she was choked by him you would see some evidence

Ever think that maybe Merriman is just a really big ninja :D Anyway I guess this ads credibility to the stopping her from driving drunk story.

Looks like everyone jumped the gun on this one. Well Merriman's decision-making in some areas (steroids, initially option out of surgery and risking grave injury) have been questionable, but I guess we shouldn't jump to conclusion. Well I hope he gets his name cleared up after this whole mess.

wow. talk about a falling star. wonder how he'd have turned out if Gibbs had drafted him and been his mentor from the start...

Falling star? Have you seen him play this preseason? Anything that holds the ball is shivering on contact.

Where is my free cup of haterade for posting on this thread?

The guy made a mistake and I don't support what he did but he is still is and was better than Rogers. If we are talking about football, this guy is still a beast and the mohawk is awesome.
