We have Orakpo now so no need to even try to get Merriman from the Chargers. We need O-Lineman to make us a Super Bowl contender.

I was just saying it would be awsome. I think what we need is JC to be the star and we have what we need right now.

I agree Jason Campbell is going to shine this year do to his learning curve of the WC offense being his 2nd year. He does have the Big Arm, now lets give him time to make the throws.

Merriman at SLB in a 4-3? Really? He's a 3-4 LB through and through. He is schemed around and is excellent at getting to the QB. If put at LB in a 4-3 or DE in a 4-3 I think he would be far less successful than he has been in the past.

Most of the time an OLB in a 3-4 becomes a DE when he switches to a 4-3. Of course it can go either way. Joey Porter for example played OLB when he played in a 4-3 of course that didn't work out for him and when the team switched to a 3-4 he went absolutely nuts in opposing teams backfield.

I'd imagine though that Ware and Merriman go to a DE spot if they ever switch to a 4-3. Merriman though was touted as one of the most versitle players in a long time when he came out in the 2005 draft. So versitle in fact that he spent time at each position in the front 7 of Marylands defense during 2004 (though I don't remember if thats true or not). I think if he had to Merriman could succeed as a 4-3 OLB of course his biggest asset is his ability to get after the passer.

2005 Draft Profile

POSITIVES: Athletic defender who displays great suddenness to his game. Explosive up the field, redirects to ballcarriers and fast moving laterally. Pursues to the flanks with speed, displays outstanding range and the ability to defeat blocks. Breaks down well, tough to knock off his feet and strong at the point of attack. Possesses a closing burst of speed and flashes on the scene. Disciplined in pass coverage, effective in space and fast off the edge when lined up in a three-point stance.

I have a hard time believing Merriman is only 6'1

He's not 6'1". His measured height at the NFL combine (which is statistically obsessed) is 6'4". See it here (http://www.thehogs.net/Draft/combine/2005_Combine2.html). I've stood next to the man. I'm 6'3" and he was definitely a bit taller.

i seen merriman in person too, stood next to him. i was surprised how small he looked and wondered how the hell does he play linebacker in the nfl. this was a few months after the roid suspension.

What kind of beast are you then? I'm not a small dude at all, but I sure felt that way standing next to this guy:

Agreed, The O line will probably keep us out of the playoffs this year

But it wouldve been sweet, and yeah he played de for the terps...not sure if Ware ever did.

Why did we give up Champ and a second rounder for Portis...was Gibbs just fiending for a rb for his offense or was he going to bail? I can't remember.

Our defense couldve been legendary if not for freak occurences and several key bad personnel moves.

We didn't "give up" Champ, he wanted out and went public. The trade for CP would have been fine straight up, adding a second rounder was a little much...

In any case, ancient history by now.

As you have proven, we are all too willing to look past someone breaking the law because he plays professional sports, and makes a ton of money. It happens over and over and over.................

So what is your Spin on the Merriman fiasco now since the "system" has decided to ignore the non-bruised but battered Tila Tequila?

Maybe she is a Karate man. Karate man bruise on the inside...

Lol what a joke this was.
