Jones got drafted ahead of em so that isnt really an issue

I think he is talented as well, but he hasn't proven to be the talent that Shawne or Ware are

Someone said early in the post they would rather have Rogers than Merriman

I have to disagree

And if somewhat we could have end up with Drew Brees when he left SD, it would have been great.

Every time I see Drew Brees I think about how the Dolphins worked out him and Culpepper and decided Culpepper was the better choice for their QB moving forward. Oops.

side note

The Chargers stock pile talent at rb and qb like none other in recent memory via the draft...

I have a hard time believing Merriman is only 6'1

My god, what would our defense look like if we had Merriman at SLB. Would that be incredible. Not even sure he can play the position, but wow.

For what it's worth I think Shawne Merriman should change his sack dance to this.

Merriman at SLB in a 4-3? Really? He's a 3-4 LB through and through. He is schemed around and is excellent at getting to the QB. If put at LB in a 4-3 or DE in a 4-3 I think he would be far less successful than he has been in the past.

I agree. Both Merriman and Ware are good players and I do not want to diminish them. But both thrive because of the systems they are in. They are like defensive versions of a "system quarterback."

Well I think he could play SLB, maybe I am wrong. For some reason I thought he played MLB in a 4-3. They always said we would have drafted him if we had not lost Champ. I still would love to see him try.
