And what position does he play on Sunday? Meks 09-09-2009, 09:34 AM some are saying our secondary is alot better than there recievers ... sorry i really dont think so, not with eli throwing the ball if we dont get pressure with they good OL ... if we dont get enough pressure, like we've lacked in recent years... eli will pick us apart like he has in recent years... this game will fall on the defensive pressure we get, bottom line. i dont expect our offense to put up big numbers, its the first game... theres some shakes and jitters to get out and hit to be given/recieved.... and we havent exactly looked GREAT against decent defenses..... especially with the giants line, our running game and our pass pro will suffer... final prediction 14 - 13 skins. cuz i have hope. TheMalcolmConnection 09-09-2009, 09:44 AM Anyone predicting the Giants to score twenty plus on us have to be crazy. Similar to the Cowboys, the Giants lost one HELL of an offensive weapon in Burress, not to mention a great secondary receiver in Toomer. Pretty much the brunt of the offense is going to fall on Jacobs with Eli throwing to mostly rookie WRs. We had one of the best defensive teams in the NFL last year and this was WITHOUT Haynesworth and Orakpo. If the Giants win, it sure as hell won't be because they're marching up and down the field on us. Meks 09-09-2009, 09:51 AM ^ but we still got ate up in the passing game.....remember? .... 'bend dont break bullshit'..... so soon to 4get. giants recievers are fast, and hakeem nicks is big AND fast and played well in the summer.... dont under-estimate. i've learned over the years to be REALISTIC when hoping for a win. CRedskinsRule 09-09-2009, 10:01 AM ^ but we still got ate up in the passing game.....remember? .... 'bend dont break bullshit'..... so soon to 4get. giants recievers are fast, and hakeem nicks is big AND fast and played well in the summer.... dont under-estimate. i've learned over the years to be REALISTIC when hoping for a win. eli was 19 of 35 in the first game, 213 yds, no td, no int, and 10 of those passes were to Burress. I remember the game clearly, and after their first 2 drives (1 TD, 1 FG) they stopped moving the ball. The first drive they had all the SB champ hype and they were fired up. WE on the other hand last year always took a quarter to "ramp up". If Hakeem Nicks plays well, then it could be closer. But our secondary receivers have looked far better than their primary receivers, and if we can back their LB's off, we will run better also. One last thing I remember about that game was how little Zorn used Cooley. As JZ admitted earlier this week, he didn't really know his players strengths and weaknesses last year game 1, and this year Cooley will not be limited to 1 catch for 7 yards. If they try and bottle up CP, as I expect most teams to do early, JC will win the game for us. Believe you me! Meks 09-09-2009, 10:17 AM and the second game? he ate our pass d up. and i disagree that our 2ndary recievers are THAT much better than their starters at this point. sorry. ZORN, hasnt really shown any progression in play-calling, i still think if he doesnt improve from last year and some pre-season lack-lust.... then i maintain that he sucks at play-calling, like he did last year. CRedskinsRule 09-09-2009, 10:35 AM I guess it's an agree to disagree. I will agree that Eli picked us apart that game, but that is one game out of the last 6. No way of knowing on the receivers till this weekend, but I absolutely would take our top 5 over their top 5 every time. I have always thought Zorn has called effective games, but again that's an agree to disagree point, because how do you really prove it. You can call a perfect game, but penalties, dropped passes, fumbles, and other player mistakes can cause the team to lose. The question is whether the called play had a chance to be an effective play, and the only call I ever remember seeing that was a "What is he thinking" moment was the Fred Davis reverse . Fortunately all the speculating ends in 3 1/2 days! Roll on! Meks 09-09-2009, 10:37 AM ^ i would take them, no doubt, it just hasnt been proven to me yet thats all... it is a we'll see kinda thing yea.... as for zorn, it almost ALWAYS seemed like the other(good) teams knew when we were running the ball and knew what was coming before the ball was snapped... johno 09-09-2009, 10:55 AM No way of knowing on the receivers till this weekend, but I absolutely would take our top 5 over their top 5 every time. i agree with you here, our starting 5 are better than theirs, and thats not saying a whole lot. Fortunately all the speculating ends in 3 1/2 days! Roll on! thank goodness. EARTHQUAKE2689 09-09-2009, 11:52 AM I know :) its what makes you great at what you do |
