12thMan 09-05-2009, 01:55 PM You know, I've been skimming the Colt threads here and there. I'd see comments by various posters talking about the Cult of Colt. I kinda shrugged it off and didn't really take it too seriously. I remember we went through this with Taylor Jacobs, then Anothony Mix, Ade Jimoh (who could forget the Ade fan club?) and many others over the years. But my god, this Colt shit is for real. There are people here, reasonable and intelligent mind you, who actually believe Colt Brennen is the next coming of Fran Tarkenton.
It's extremely difficult for a quarterback to come into this league, no matter how talented and gifted, and make an impact. Could it happen, I suppose so. But here's a guy that can't unseat Todd Collins at the age of 36, 37 years old, as the second string quarterback. Colt has zero chance, in my opinion, of taking over this team. At least not while Jason Campbell still wears burgund and gold.
Westover 09-05-2009, 02:04 PM It's pretty funny the bizarre and/or angry reaction some people have to support for Colt Brennan. Obviously Colt brings up strong feelings.
That ability to bring up strong feelings, to galvanize people, is critical to being a top quarterback. When you are a field general you need to have the ability to inspire people. It can be a double edged sword and you can galvanize people to oppose you too. But it's a sword that you can't become a great quarterback without in my view.
Players will and do feel strongly - in a positive way - about Colt. And it's similar to the way people respond to Brett Farve.
roth74va 09-05-2009, 02:04 PM Colt lovers are incredible, some of you guys are purely comical at this point. And btw, whoever came up with Pineapple Jesus is a genius, these guys really believe he is the messiah.
Ruhskins 09-05-2009, 02:09 PM I guess the team wants to give Colt one more chance. i don't mind the team carrying two QBs, I'm sure they can pick up a third qb later on, and now they can use that roster spot elsewhere. With this injury though I wonder if Colt is going to be one of those injury-prone players. Oh well, I'm glad it wasn't an important player that got injured (i.e. a starter or an important back up)

Wow. Just wow. Dude, I do not know what you are drinking but please please make sure you cleanse your system before any mandatory drug testing.
Colt does seem to have a certain field presence. But, unlike Farve, he doesn't have a gun for an arm - well maybe a popgun.
And to be clear, I got no special love or hate for the guy. The thing that "galvanizes" me, is his followers incredible inability to see his limitations and flaws.
Please, PLEASE tell me what his "remarkable physical abilities" are???

ROFL....very nice!!! :laughing2
Westover 09-05-2009, 02:27 PM I'm glad you have no "special" hate for Colt Brennan.
You do have a tremendous hostility, however, shown by your senseless insults directed at me.
For anyone else reading this, I'll let Coach Zorn do the talking for me, because I think he has the best perspective about Colt Brennan.

It's a football forum man. I doubt JR had "tremendous hostility" towards you. Moreso incredible incomprehension of what player you are describing. Colt Brennan was at best the 3rd string quarterback on this team, he was given every chance to take over the 2nd string position, and instead apparently came close to losing his 3rd string position to a qb that we ended up cutting.
Colt did not wow the coaches with an immense physical presence or karmatic experience. Maybe with time he can overcome his inexperience and bad judgement making, but he certainly did not step forward this preseason.

Brennan's Hip a Problem All Preseason
Quarterback Colt Brennan often said he would not make excuses for his poor performance during the preseason.
As I'm finding out now, it appears Brennan had, at least in part, one legitimate excuse: a left hip injury. Brennan suffered the injury in the Redskins' preseason opener Aug. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Redskins did not reveal the injury when it occurred, and Brennan - who had surgery to repair a slightly torn labrum in his right hip in April 2008 - continued to play despite the discomfort. But the injury had an effect on Brennan's mechanics, a league source told me today, and made it harder for him to operate within the offense.
Obviously, the injury was not the cause of Brennan's poor decision-making for most of the preseason. But the Redskins knew Brennan was not operating at full strength physically. When Brennan was sacked late in the fourth quarter Thursday night in Jacksonville, he aggravated his hamstring and hip injuries in addition to tearing his hamstring. He is expected to have further tests on his hip soon.

You better toughen up quick, it gets pretty crazy in here sometimes! :)
