I say yes. He is an outstanding return man. He was 7th in the NFL last year in PR average when he was with Carolina.

He was signed by Tennessee in the offseason but was hurt until the last preseason game. In that game, he broke a punt return for 21 yards and a kickoff return for 44 yards but it was too late for him to make the team.

We need that type of production in the return game. I say we should sign him.

I say no. I say if we have someone who is just a returner, we should stick with Dorsey.

The 5 RB number, as far as I understood it, included Sellers. BUT, we could still keep 4 RB (including AA or GD as the 3rd tailback), 5 WR's and a dedicated KR/ST. If so, and as D. Smith pointed out, that player has to do more than just return kicks. But, yea, they probably could reserve a spot just for that without changing the position dynamic to much.

I think we all know how this works....if DS, Cerrato, or Zorn wanted any certain person on the team and someone had to be cut to keep their player I'm sure D.Smith would find someone else on the team to use to get the job done. I'm sure he has a say but ultimatly we know if the front office or Zorn is high on someone their staying.

Cartwright is solid. Returns will improve this year anyway with the rule changes. No wedges.

Ok, didn't know this thread was rolling as fast as it was. Also didn't realize Jones was a WR ...I assumed he was a RB since people like their KR's to be RB's. As for Jones not being utilized as a WR and for the most part as a KR, why are you guys complaining? Rock is a RB who is not utilized as a RB. No different. Maybe we simply cut Rock and keep Jones. The team was looking to keep 5 RB's not including Sellers. Portis, Betts, Rock, and most likely 2 of the last 3 RB's Mason, and either Alridge or Dorsey.

As for my 25.6 yrds per KR.....

NFL Stats: by Player Position (http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=1&statisticPositionCategory=KICK_RETURNER&season=2008&seasonType=REG)

I stand corrected, he was tied for 22nd.

I don't even care about Rock Cartwright, but you seriously don't see the flaw in your logic? There are seven people on that list who have one kickoff return. So they returned one kick for more than 26 yards and they are ahead of Cartwright on that list. If you filter the list of running backs in the same way than Adrian Peterson was 35th in the league in yards per carry last year. The great Montell Owens completely owned him with 21.5 yards per carry.

When it comes to cuts, the only position they should be considering is OLB or OT

No thanks. No room, I don't see any upgrade vs. using the unknown RB that we might just keep (Aldridge, Mason, Dorsey...pick one) or a WR like Tana/ Kelly (Hopefully ARE will be much improved this season, I do EXPECT IT) doing the same work.

I don't see a move like this taking place or for that matter with the pieces we have making a whole lotta sense.
