BigHairedAristocrat 09-04-2009, 11:42 AM Nice writeup. I agree we go with 10 OL instead of 5 Backs and its more likely that if we did keep 5 backs, we could keep FB Eddie Williams over any of Aldridge, Dorsey, or Mason. However, if we keep 10 OL, i think the 10th will be a cut from another team who can play tackle... like Tre Thomas from the Jags. I did notice one error though: We project Glenn makes the roster and Henson to the practice squad. But he will make the team. Roster Players: Brian Orakpo, London Fletcher, Rocky McIntosh, Robert Thomas, HB Blades, Chris Wilson, Robert Henson, (7) Which is it? I think Henson realy helped himself last night, but I still think we go with Glenn. I also think only one of Henson and Young make the PS. SBXVII 09-04-2009, 12:00 PM As much as I want to argue about his picks....I can't. I'm not sure what the coach's were looking for, or what they want. I have my favorite picks and they all looked bad last night except Mitchell. Tryon has looked bad for 3 games now and last night he finally looked ok. I have been touting cutting Westbrook cause for 3 yrs he has not gotten off the practice squad and others like Tryon have come in and stayed on the roster, but he's looked good the last 2-3 games. I have wanted the team to cut Collins and then watch a performance like last night where Colt and Chase simply didn't shine. Maybe it's cause it's the 2nd stringers blocking for them. Honestly, I think if any one player went down our back ups would fill in and do an admirable job, but put too many of the back ups in and I see us having problems. I'm a Mason fanatic no doubt but I was not so impressed last night, maybe due to blocking. I'm betting we keep Alridge as the change of pace and maybe put Dorsey on practice cause he can go there. I think FB Williams will be on practice squad in case Sellers gets hurt then they can bring him up to roster. Yodder made a statement last night but I would still cut him and put Agnone on practice squad. I know people want to crusify Alridge for his fumble but I can't. If you look at it he caught the ball and decided to run left. As he was moving the ball from his right side to his left side away from the tackler his elbow or arm got hit with the helmet or shoulder pads of the tackler causing the ball to pop out. Yes he should have just tucked it and held on with both hands but he was actually doing what he was trained to do which is move the ball away from the tackler and take the hit. It was just bad timing. Schneed10 09-04-2009, 12:18 PM I'm a Mason fanatic no doubt but I was not so impressed last night, maybe due to blocking. Plus, there is the real question whether he should have brought it out at all. 53Fan 09-04-2009, 12:26 PM Agreed. Plus, there is the real question whether he should have brought it out at all. Yeah he probably shouldn't have. I'm not making excuses for these guys but I'm sure they know they only have a limited amount of plays to make the team so they sometimes make bad decisions by trying to showcase their skills (Colt). I'm not sure they understand that sometimes they're hurting themselves by not making the smart, safe play. SBXVII 09-04-2009, 12:28 PM Agreed. Plus, there is the real question whether he should have brought it out at all. I agree with both of you. He should have just let the ball bounce into the endzone, but we don't know what the coach's may or may not have told him to do. Can't fault a guy if told no matter what catch it and run it. I say this cause they may have said that to see what he could do. It was bad no doubt. Thankfully it doesn't count against our season. Now the coach's know that he's not 100% reliable although he showed well in a previous game so who knows. He looked good on the pass from Chase in the 4th quarter in the 2min drill. Changed directions and still out ran two defenders to pick up 20-30 yrds. SBXVII 09-04-2009, 12:32 PM Yeah he probably shouldn't have. I'm not sure they understand that sometimes they're hurting themselves by not making the smart, safe play. Exactly. I mean last game to showcase and they are nervous about making a mistake which in reality increases the chance to make those mistakes. SmootSmack 09-04-2009, 12:37 PM Yeah he probably shouldn't have. I'm not sure they understand that sometimes they're hurting themselves by not making the smart, safe play. Well the thing is they also have weeks of practices and scrimmages to show their skills as well. And Alridge was fumbling then as well. I mean it's not just Chase's game performances that have him in good position to take the #3 spot. It's also the fact that he practiced well, took what the coaches were saying to him, processed it and improved as the summer went on. |
