I am uninspired by defense... a ton of offseason hype again...but nothing amazing, thats for sure...we shall see when the season starts...don't drink the kool aid until you see if it kills you first.

You must be a depressing drunk. LOL.

I on the other hand see a pretty dominant defense. Our line has been held all season long by the opposition's o-line. Our backups did a decent job against Jax's first team offense. And Haynesworth does make a difference in that line. It is to early to say for a fact that they are going to be elite...but on the same token it is too early to say they are going to dissappoint.

W/out question they've been a little sloppy.

Agreed. Too early to really tell anything. But I don't like the fact that he was loafing last week and looked out of shape. We'll see next week. I think Smoot and Orakpo have had real nice pre seasons. I think Wilson has earned playing time w/ the starters too.

I've been hearing him being out of shape, don't know what to make of it. In regards to last week, this was the freaking Pats we were playing against...and even against them we manage to put a little pressure and punch Brady in the mouth. Honestly, last year's team would have gotten no pressure on the Pats, and the little pressure we got on them I thought was an improvement. I think if anyone expected 10 sacks of Brady or having him running for his life, is delusional. It wil be nice yes, but you have to be realistic.

I expect this defense, and especially the d-line, to put a lot of pressure and create turnover against average and below average teams, and put up good fights against elite teams (i.e. the Pats).

I think that we're on our way to becoming a good team, a playoff team. We're not there yet.
There are only a few concerns in my book and that's O-line depth and consistency. Can anyone tell my why Blache plays the CBs so far off the effing WRs?

I really liked that we aired the ball out alot more these two preseason games. And fairly successfully, sure would have been nice for either Kelly's pass in the Pitt game or AREs tonight to have been successful. But I think Zorn was very smart to show enough of this hand that the Giants will have to expect it, and play the whole field and not just the run. I think our offense could surprise a lot of people, who just read stat lines, and don't see the difference from last year.

I'm really happy about two things:
1) preseason is over and we've had no major injuries (except maybe for Colt). Yoohoo!

2) now it all counts, it is all for real...finally.

I think we'll get better at the long ball. We haven't had a lot of practice with it. :)

Well when you don't generate pass rush, you expect the qb will take more time.

Actually, I think his premise is always been the [aggravating] bend don't break. Give up a little in front of you if necessary, but make them drive the whole field, sooner or later they will make a mistake. Kinda funny since that's been our offense's exact problem.
If the cb's are jamming or pressing, and the receiver gets behind them, it's a TD. Hopefully with AH and Orakpo, the qb will be throwing off his back foot more, and by playing back you can break on the ball better. That is best case scenario. Worst case, they dink/dunk and stay on the field forever:(

another thing i liked about this preseason, is we played our 2nds against the opponents 1sts alot. I think this will pay big dividends when a player is called up to the first team. It's one thing to play the whole 2nd line, but different if you have the starters in and just one backup.

I also am amazed at how little we used Cooley. I can't begin to imagine that he and CP wont be highlighted against the giants.
