``They were literally calling our plays,'' Portis said.

Browns cornerback Daylon McCutcheon essentially agreed.

``Their offense is not that complicated,'' McCutcheon said. ``They have certain tendencies. Let's say it's third down. They line up in this formation and they only run two different routes. It makes our job a whole lot easier."

Gibbs disagrees, seems like Gibbs wants players to execute plays so well that it works even if they know its coming. if thats the case, why bother with so much time consuming deception? its been deceiving our own players more than the other team, and cost us some key timeouts and busted plays. is Gibbs gonna drill this into the team no matter how long it takes or will he try something new?

Skins vs. Broncos in the Super Bowl, you think the Broncos knew what plays were coming??

It's all about execution.

As for the shifts, they're an integral part of the offense, I don't see Gibbs changing that much.

I agree. Everyone needs to chill out. Granted, he may have inhaled a lot of exhaust in the past ten years, but my money is on the fact that Gibbs did not become simple-minded all of a sudden.

its not that he's become simple minded. like everyone has noted. Gibbs runs plays you know are coming but cant stop cuz of execution and perfect personnel for it (44). but the execution/personnel arent in sync for that right now (ever? different NFL?) and people are already asking Gibbs to adjust.

Gibbs adapts to his players talents. This takes time, especially combined with players still learning and buying into the system. Everyone (myself included) seemed to think that he would have some kind of "magic dust" to sprinkle on them and turn this team into an instant contender. He doesn't....it takes hard work, and they are on the right track.
It does kinda worry me a little that this came the week after Gibbs said that he needed to "simplify things" on the offense. It seems to me that he could throw in a few more surprises at them.....but it is still early. Remember that he hadn't called an NFL game for 12 years. That is a long time to be away from football completely and I expect him to get more and more comfortable with it as the season goes on.
