So its the end of the third week in preseason and it looks like a late rounder in Marko and a ufa in Ogletree are 2 of the biggest surprises at rookie wide receivers.

So my questions are whos going to be the better receiver this year and over their carriers? Honestly i havent watched any cowboy preseason games this year but ive heard a lot of good things about Ogletree. I also dont remeber him at UVA and rarely watch UVA games unless nothing else is on. I heard today that he had reps with the first teamers for the cowboys this weekend and did pretty good, i believe with 2 catches from Romo, and 1 overthrown pass from Romo, when he was apparently wide open. Ogletree has apparently been getting as much praise at cowboys camp as Marko is getting over here.

Stats:
In 2 games Kevin Ogletree has 5 catches for 73 yards and 1 touchdown
6'1", 196lbs, 40yard: 4.30 - 4.53, out of Virginia

Marko Mitchell ive liked everything ive seen so far just like everyone else on this board, plus he just became my friend on the facebook. Ive read just about every article on him and have heard nothing but good things. Only thing i havent seen from him yet is a reception from JC, however he did have a good block to extend Cooly's catch and gain some experience with the first teamers last game.

Stats:
In 2 games Marko has 5 catches for 61 yards and 2 touchdowns.
6'4", 218, 40yard: 4.36 - 4.54, out of Nevada

I think for this year I can see Ogletree doing better. He is going to get more and more time with Roy Williams being out. Plus the cowboys recievers situation is as shaky as ours after there number 1. I think Mitchell has a lot more to prove in order to get in front of Thomas and Kelly. I could see Mitchell getting a few touchdowns though as he could get his playing time though redzone packages. Plus who knows if Kelly will last this whole season, if his knee starts to flare up, or he consistaintly misses practice then Mitchell could get more reps.

Either way it looks like the Redskins and cowboys may have got themselves some great Chris Horton type talent....

Man, sorry to derail an otherwise decent post but why do people still bring this up? He hasn't had one sign of any knee issues all camp/preseason. If he made it through 2 a days and the rigors of training camp, I'd suspect he's going to be fine through the season unless it's a new injury. Any chance we can let that myth die now?

He was consistently held out of some camp practices or had limited reps for precautionary purposes, and had microfracture surgery in Feb. I dont really like bringing it up either, but i still get worried about Rocky's knee and sometimes even Roger's knee a little bit. I have Kelly above Thomas and El on my depth chart, i just wonder if he's going to make it 5 years or a whole season without being limited.

That's far from a myth. That same knee was an issue at Oklahoma, kept him out basically all of last year, kept him out of all OTAs, and the start of training camp this year. The myth is that his knee if totally fine now. I need to see more than a month of good health from him to feel comfortable about that knee moving forward.

Anyway, not to hijack the thread...

I love what I've seen from Marko. He's got great size and very good speed. He's making this team for sure, and once he polishes up his route running and playbook knowledge, we may have ourselves a heckuva player.

If the season started TODAY, I'd feel comfortable with him being the recipient of some jump balls in the end zone.

Who the heck is Ogletree?

Ogletree is the cowboys great receiver hope. He was the intended receiver for Romo's int against the SF49ers and he has really done well in pre-season. The comparison to Mitchell is a good one. He could become their top receiving threat. Whereas Mitchell at best will be our #4.

It's starting to look like the Redskins have a knack for picking up good talent in very late rounds or undrafted rookies.

That's a good thing it shows that we finally have depth at WR.

Hell i believe that Marko Mitchell can and will pass Kelly & Thomas on the depth chart eventually, but will start season at number 4.
