With a normal coaching staff that would be true, I honestly believe we under utilized every player on our team though. The only positive about that is you know what level of natural talent you have on the team. I hope this next crew finds away to coach players above their basic abilities and get many of them to that next level.
Amen to that, brother.

I guess I am in the minority to think that we've actually got a shot at a good WR corp next year without adding anyone. Thomas showed some nice ability to make catches once he gets in a rhythm and this was essentially Kelly's rookie season. I am going to discount much of their slow development and attribute it to coaching.
Year one Eddie Royal catches 90+ balls in Shanny's offense. Year two, 37 catches. Coincidence? I want to see Thomas, Kelly and Mitchell with a coach that will use them in the best way to make them successful.

I agree Paintrain. I think we'll see our receivers do much better this year. I'm not one to make comparisons to Taylor Jacobs everytime a rookie doesn't get 90 catches his first year. I think the young guys have talent and MS will see that they're used to the best of their ability. I expect a lot more play action and for the young guys, including Marko, to be targeted more this season. Shanny will probably improve the line and improve the running game so it should be easier to get a pass downfield.

the thing about marko people don't realize is how great of a pass blocking wr he was this year, 9 times out of 10 when he was in there it was to pass block, he has the potential, to say he can't play otherwise he would be out there is a joke, i completely agree with credskins if this was a real coaching staff we had in place this year it might have been different, but we had a guy like portis back there for the first six games at running back and once he came out i think it was plain as day he wasn't our best option at running back, anyone dissagree? and take at look at randel el back there returning kicks all freaking year are you gonna sit there and tell me he was our best option back there for the whole season i refuse to beleive that. i don't think anyone is saying he will be the next monk or clark, but you can't deny that when given the oppourtunity he has looked pretty good.
this is why i am excited about shanny and basically starting at a clean slate at all positions and he will evaluate each player and each position and put the best player in, instead of putting the guy that has a few numbers on speed dial

Of all the positions, Im most interested to see what Shanny does with the WRs. He seems like a "wants his guys" coach and interested to see who he keeps and who is gone. I would love for him to keep everyone cept ARE. But who knows, Marko or Kelly very well could be gone. I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if he lets both vets go...what would surprise me the most if he keeps everybody with no turnover...I think that is a 1% chance

I agree...Mitchell is the kind of receiver not blessed with blazing speed but is very athletic, and knows how to use his best asset (his height) to his advantage. In one on one situations we need to put it up to him, let him use his frame against much smaller DB's. It's going to be interesting to note the comparisons between the way Zorn utilized our personnel and the way Shanahan will. We won't be playing scared in this offense.
