Doesn't he get paid to go on the show each week and answer questions?
Blache goes off on reporter44Deezel 08-31-2009, 11:06 PM Doesn't he get paid to go on the show each week and answer questions? GMScud 08-31-2009, 11:22 PM I LOVE that Blache is still wearing the #21 patch on his shirt. Blache was just grumpy. Whatever. Matich looked like a deer in headlights. LOL. 70Chip 08-31-2009, 11:30 PM I know someone on this board who might have an opinion on this... But anyhow, maybe next time I see Matich hanging around my office I'll ask him about it Have you seen Matich's latest blog post? "Greg Blache is a classy guy...not" But seriously...this kind of reminded me of the time Brunell got pissed at Czaban when Czabe asked him if he would offer to basically bench himself for the good of the team. But anyway, Blache basically put it out there when he said several years ago that "sacks were overrated" and our pass rush has been suspect so, like it or not, he's going to get questions about our pass rush and how he plans on addressing it. And he's not the reporter asking the questions, so he doesn't have to "throw questions" back at Matich I was watching this live myself and I thought it was a little much. Matich bends over backwards to be fair and for Blache to jump him strikes me as odd. 53Fan 09-01-2009, 12:07 AM I was watching this live myself and I thought it was a little much. Matich bends over backwards to be fair and for Blache to jump him strikes me as odd. I agree about Matich. He's very fair and not confrontational at all. I hope he asks about d-line pressure after the Jags game. Something like, "Coach, the d-line got a lot of pressure on the QB tonight, did that help the DB's get those INT's and....could you walk the audience through what it's like to be an old grouch"? Blache might actually get a kick out of that.....or not. insideman 09-01-2009, 12:13 AM Blache could have been more tackful, but being ask the same ole same ole does get tiring. Look at the Campbell issue about being traded. It seemed like every time he was talked to, it was always the same questions about that whole ordeal. You can bet if the skins where plain out perfect, the reporters would still find something to try and get someone to harp on. Why? Because people are never happy enough with anything any more. I feel that these reporters keep asking the same questions over and over, is to see if they can get a rise out of who they are asking the questions to. One thing with the media is, if you don't give them something to write about, their going to come up with something of their own to write about. jgalecpa 09-01-2009, 04:55 PM Blache could have been more tackful, but being ask the same ole same ole does get tiring..... I feel that these reporters keep asking the same questions over and over, is to see if they can get a rise out of who they are asking the questions to. Let's remember, a reporter, for example from ESPN, cannot just air video of a Fox reporter asking a question. They have their own broadcast and have to conduct their own interview. It's part of the process and everyone in media, sports and politics knows it. Think about SuperBowl week and the repition of questions then. It is their job to ask the questions and the job of those in the NFL to make themselves available. Personally I think Blache was being a douche-bag. I go by the credo of not trying to screw with another guy when he is just doing his job: whether is cleaning a bathroom or asking the same question you have been asked 50 times. Blache violated that rule. SmootSmack 09-01-2009, 05:03 PM Blache could have been more tackful, but being ask the same ole same ole does get tiring. Look at the Campbell issue about being traded. Blache is the defensive coordinator and the pass rush, or lack thereof, is an issue and all Matich asked was for Blache to talk about the pass rush. What should he have asked him "Coach Blache, can you talk about the kicking situation? Do you think Rayner's strong kickoffs will be enough to unseat Suisham?" "Coach Blache, I'm trying to make a rasberry souffle, but my niece is lactose intolerant. Any suggestions?" The Goat 09-02-2009, 01:42 PM Another shout out for some pisstivity on defense LOL!!! I don't think the question justified Blache's reaction whatsoever; however I will say the question was sloppy. The pass-rush (or lack thereof) discussion has swirled for years now so simply regurgitating it makes for a lousy interview IMO. Ask something specific: "With Albert taking up 2 or 3 guys in the middle why don't we see the other potential play-makers, like Carter, Orakpo or Daniels getting pressure on the QB?" I think that's a totally fair question, and one that probably needs to be asked. Blache had better get used to fielding this stuff unless/until the D breaks out along the LOS. I also wondered if Blache is taking heat from the guys who matter i.e. are Vinny and Danny asking him the same questions? If so it would explain his irritation when a reporter asks the same thing...i don't know. There is the possibility, though it seems very unlikely to me know, Blache is hiding his schemes and we're gonna see hell unleashed come sept 13. Again I doubt it but it would be the coolest thing I've seen all year :) Longtimefan 09-02-2009, 02:18 PM Did he deserve it No, but think ask me something different be creative. I recall Blache mentioning the fact he dosen't mind intelligent, well thought out questions, but the same old questions day in and day out can become annoying. I think Blache was just a little peturbed by the way his defense had just been picked apart by Brady. Since he hadn't had the opportunity to speak to his team yet, he felt a need to vent. Unfortunately, he took his frustration out on Matich. Did he deserve it? probably not, but those media types should know by now that Blache is a no-nonsense straight shooter. and in this particular instance may have gone just a little overboard. On the other hand, in some ways I can sympathize with his anxiety over the questions that offtime seem repetitive. TBH I get tired of hearing them myself and I don't have to answer. shack 09-02-2009, 02:41 PM Greg Blache didn't graduate from charm school, this much we know. He's a no nonsense kind of maniac. When I'm looking for tactfulness I turn it to CNN. I'm thinking he should coach the offensive line also. The NFC is wide open, and there for the taking. We have the talent, we just need to be fired up. Viva la Greg Blache, and bring on them damn Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants. |
