Can't argue w/ the freakshow of talent that is Brady/Moss. What killed me is how Hall didn't get beat he just couldn't regain position to defend the pass. Say he picks the inside on that play you're talking an INT. The 2nd Moss TD was all on Laron. He continues to disappoint IMO. I expected a breakout season from the kid but so far he's still a step or two late on many of the plays that count the most. I have a sneaking suspicion there's a lack of intensity in Landry keeping him from greatness.

Come on. Not sure if it was a mental mistake by one of the corners, but Moss ran inside and Laron was left all alone to cover him one on one. Name a safety in the league right now who can handle Randy Moss in man coverage. Better yet name a corner who can hanlde him one on one. Dude is other-worldly.

You got everything you asked for.

Should've asked for more

Landry got fooled on the pump fake, he took a little hesitation step and that allowed Moss to blow by.

Shit happens when you're dealing with a QB and WR on top of their game.

Hall missed jamming him on the line as well, could have changed the whole play.

Shit happens when you're dealing with a QB and WR on top of their game. Both of Moss' TD's were sight adjustments that I don't think any other passing tandem in the league could have made. The first one was a more subtle "hey, I'm taking this inside", and the second was an in route that turned into a go when the Redskins didn't have Landry deep and Brady's first two reads were covered. The pass rush does have to get to him on that play.

The Maroney receptions were just holes in the scheme though. It's 2009, and we can't leave running backs uncovered, or matched up against lineman anymore.

Laron probably has the speed to match Moss, but he was a step or two behind cuz he didn't pick up on the go route.

I can't argue w/ Moss' talent level or the fact that very few guys can cover him, just saying on that particular play the TD wasn't inevitable by any means. Moss never got jammed at the line (nothing to do w/ Laron) and then our FS didn't pick-up the route.

Laron to me is always a step behind the play.

I almost think this topic is worth it's own thread. Laron has yet to live up to his 7th overall status in the draft. He's just not a dominant FS.

For those who may wish to muddy this fact w/ the fallacious claim Landry is playing out of position: don't say it. He was a FS for the most part at LSU. He played a center field type roll and opposing offenses rarely passed deep on his squad. We basically drafted him to play out of position opposite Sean.

Anyway, I'm starting to lose my patience w/ him. I think I see a lack of intensity there...curious to hear what others see.

Yeah, the success of the defensive scheme requires Landry to make all the downfield plays. I don't think he's around the ball quite well enough for the scheme to be successful yet. When he does get there, Landry has been great, but he's just not enough of a factor yet. Landry needs to be everywhere, not just between the hashes.
