It's preseason remember, if Colt had thrown that TD you'd be going crazy. Give Chase his due a TD is a TD i don't care who you score it on if the DF puts a 5-10 DB on a 6-4 WR who's to blame. OF Starters have to play the first half or at least 10 points whatever comes first. We sit TC unless there's a chance he might get cut we already know what we have with him. Colt for the 3rd qtr & chase 4th qtr. Rayner kicks 1st half & Suishan 2nd half.
To add to what i said earlier. JC has to put up some points cause you know he shouldn't be playing in the final preseasona game.

If Chase or Colt has to play this year then the season is already in the toilet. I really don't care which one of them makes the team.

If we get down to one of them, I say just continue the trend for entertainment purposes and get Randel El under center.

Everyone's pretty much on the same page with (offensive) starters playing until halftime or significant scoring or yardage. The only way to find out if Chase is "the truth" is to have him play immediately after. But, if this were a open competition, Collins would be given a chance to start because he has already proven his worth. So... let Collins develop more chemistry with the WRs just in case he's needed down the road. Let him come in second. Colt, then Chase and then rotate them again in the final game.

1. How long do the starters play? The entire first half as a minimum. Into the third quarter if the first string struggles.
2. Who's the first QB off the bench? Chase Daniel. Need to know if this kid is for real.
3. Who's the second QB off the bench? Colt Brennan. He needs an opportunity to prove himself.
4. How would you manage the kicker battle? Alternate kickers. No one has stepped up and won this battle.

If Chase continues to meet challenges and look like the pro prospect that people believe Brennan can be, I don't know how we can cut Daniel. This is more about Chase than Colt. My eyes tell me that Colt is perfectly capable of hanging around on an NFL roster and he can make a nice living doing so, but Chase is like 3-4 years younger and already sees a field as well if not better.
So if Chase isn't a fluke, I think he gets it. If he struggles in one of the last two preseason games, then you probably try to sneak him onto the practice squad and try him again next year.
I agree with you completely.

One thing I thought was pretty interesting was Zorn's reaction. Zorn is pretty candid about what he thinks, so you have to assume there are no motivational tools in play necessarily when he speaks of his players.
Zorn was pretty quick last summer to temper all the excitement about Colt, talking about his mechanics were ugly and he has to show better discipline. He seemed to have nothing but praise for Chase on Saturday, touting his poise, and mechanics
This is true, but Zorn knew the hype that Colt would bring.. he also knew that Colt would make the team; so that public criticism would help Colt work harder.
If Zorn goes into the media saying yeah Chase needs to work on this and this and he really didn't do this, blah blah; you've got a guy right now at the #4 spot who might get discouraged when he has a chance for #3 if he keeps it up.

Bunch of people choosing to go with Chase off the bench. Wouldn't it be more fair to go with Colt in the 3rd, Chase in the 4th -- to evalute Colt with the 2nd team defense Chase had last week...
Hopefully it really shouldn't matter & they never see action. But either way, at this point Chase has looked better & confident and is my favorite. And he's not that short -- Drew Brees (6'), Doug Flutie (5'10"), and Joe Theismann (6') were all shorter. Chase is 6'1". Just get him some thick sneakers.

My understanding is that Chase is listed at 6' but actually is closer to 5'10".

How would he get it by doing cleanup for the 3rd straight game? put him in 2nd and see once and for all if he can handle it or not. IMO the one who doesnt shine in this game needs to be released ASAP so the team can move on and that player will have a better shot of landing elsewhere since its early in the cuts. I dont see us putting a QB on the PS.
