I think Mitchell is making it real hard or coaches. I am pretty sure they felt DJ would snatch the 5 spot and it would be done but Mitchell is showing not just "pre-season scrub" goodness but he actually looks like he could help us out this year. His route on the TD was outstanding and that is a hard route to perfect. He has size and speed. Unless he craps the bed I don't see how we can't keep him on the roster.
Absolutely agree. This guy could add a lot to our receiving corps and could be a force in the redzone. Plus the combinations on 4 WR sets blows ones mind.

The more I think about it he more amazed I am. We haven't had a WR who could run that fade route like that since when?

We did offer Hackett contracts before which he turned down.
Nonetheless I'm with Smootsmack. Hackett is not just going to be handed the job. On that note, he didn't help himself a lot tonight.

It seems like forever. I didn't think we still had it in the playbook. :)

Yeah I couldn't remember the last time we actually worked a fade route for a touchdown with a tall wideout like that. And I agree, he ran a good route, he was patient at the beginning to give Daniels a little more time and it was a great leaping catch. He definitely impressed me tonight. I actually wouldn't be that concerned if he wasn't that good on special teams because so far he's looked like a dependable guy with reliable hands who runs decent routes. We could use another guy like that. Plus he's 6'4 which doesn't hurt either, especially down by the end zone.

Me too! If Mitchell continues to excel next two games, then I would have hard time not to believe that Mitchell will take the #5 spot..
Mitchell looked good I think he really helped his cause tonight

Anyone think that Devin Thomas has looked better then MM yet? You hear nothing but great things about both of them in practice, but Mitchell has looked better in both games, imo. How funny would it be if MM was the 5th and didnt play on teams, and DT was 3rd or 4th and did?
Right now i think its:
Moss
Kelly
El
Thomas
Mitchell
The other problem with keeping Mitchell if he cant contribute on special teams is that the only other WR who really can is Thomas, especially if El gets pulled from punt returns. Will be interesting to see what happens, especially considering how awful our special teams have looked. Im pulling for him though
