Sure, I typically really root for the worst teams to be good again, but I really like what the Lions have done this offseason. I think they at least upgraded the offensive line to serviceable and their defense will be MUCH improved.

Schwartz is coach of the year if the Lions win the NFC North. That could happen, acutally. I have them winning 5 games with a 1-5 record in the division, but if they win 4 or 5 games against NFC North opponents, all of a sudden that's 8-9 wins and in a division where there's no double digit win teams.

Still, a 5-1 record in the NFC North would require them to be a much better team then I think anyone expects.

I think their defense keeps them in a lot of games this year. Take AP away from the Vikings and I think they take both games if Stafford and Pettigrew are worth half a damn. I think the Packers will be their toughest competition. Cutler won't make as big a difference as people think in Chicago.
