CultBrennan59 08-06-2009, 12:31 AM Now that we've signed DJ, does this mean that Marko Mitchell will not make the squad? I just don't see how we'll be able to have Moss, Randle El, Kelly, Thomas, Hackett (?), and/or Mitchell (?).
And the same question goes for our running backs, we can't keep Aldrige with Sellers, Portis, Betts, Cartwright, and/or Eddie Williams?

There's a long way to go before we cut down to 53. Hard to tell who makes it just yet.
Ruhskins 08-06-2009, 01:17 AM that's what i don't get on all the get a lineman talk, if we can get a proven starter, then great, but if we are picking up another body, we've got those.
This makes me laugh. I remember earlier in the offseason, people had a "young player fever", where they just wanted any young player b/c they were tired of old player, nevermind their skills, people just wanted yutes (as Joe Pesci would say it.
Now they have the "offensive lineman fever", they want any offensive lineman who can stand upright. LOL.
Speaking of lineman, I just heard this about the once-sought Khalif Barnes
Scout.com: Report: Barnes out 4-6 weeks (http://oak.scout.com/2/884875.html)
It seems like he's going to be out more like 6 to 8 weeks in some later reports.
GTripp0012 08-06-2009, 01:43 AM I think Levi Brown would be a great signing for this team, but he's not a starter for us, and I think he wants to start.
That's the question, because I don't think anyone is going to sign him to start at this point.
skins89moss 08-06-2009, 06:31 AM As others have said the key with Hackett is staying healthy, something he has struggled with. If he can make the team as the #5 and stay healthy he will be a nice pickup.
If the season had starter already all or most of the players who are injuried would be able to play. In training camp all of the vets seem to get some type of injury which allows them to take some time off from practice. These injuries are nothing except Heyer's maybe be the most serious. As for DJ Hacket what happen last year and the year before has nothing to due with him now. Any player can get injuired on any play during camp or a game. DJ can also play special teams , so he has a good shot at making the roster.
skins89moss 08-06-2009, 06:36 AM Had him ranked above Bernard Berrian in last year's free agency rankings, but what a difference a year can make, huh? Doubt he makes the team.
This is a good indicator that the Skins will keep 6 WRs though.
DJ Hacket knows this system which is a big plus and he has game time experience. He has the size at 6-2 and he can make the tuff catches. He should make the 53 man roster.

It's Levi Jones, not Levi Brown. Brown is great starting RT for the Cardinals that would do better than half our Oline now, Jones would fill in for the season and be gone, plus he isn't close to as good as Brown.

He should.
We were all excited about getting him last year for the same reasons.

I've got my fingers crossed he comes here.
The Panthers got a steal in my opinion.
I think Carolina stole him. I cant believe we did get him for that kind of money.
Malcolm Kelly (and Limas Sweed) are good values at 21st overall... ^GOOD CALL!
Then again, we were also excited about Anthony Mix. :D
skinsnut 08-06-2009, 10:50 PM I like the Hackett pickup.
Barring injury, this guy should easily make the roster as the #5.
Just compare him to Thrash....and remember, he was our #3....Hackett will likely be our #5...#3 tops if our 2 top rookies suck...
I am not as worried about our WR's as I used to...sure, outside of Santana, star power is missing...but depth is definately ok to me.
I am mostly concerned about O line and LB...just like post draft.
If we are gunna make an upgrade to get a potential starter, it would have to be in either of those 2 positions within the next 3 weeks....and I doubt we do at LB since we essentially drafted 3 LBs.
I'll say it again....I like Hackett....I think you guys will be happy with this veteran depth in case our rookies aren't quite ready or get injured.

According to Buges. .....
The media and fans need to relax about the offensive line's play, Bugel said.
"I don't know why everybody's really concerned about right tackle. That aggravates me," he said. "We got great candidates there. Heyer's played there, he's started there. Bridges has started in the league right there. We're not destitute at that position."
