let me get this straight - we're afraid because he's on the cover that he will be cursed with below average play? as opposed to the great years he's had previously, and the losing won / loss record as a starter ?

yeah yeah i know he's been in different systems over the course of his career. interesting though how rookies like flacco and matt ryan lead their teams to the playoffs.

Rather than jumping into another debate on how good JC is & how good he 'could be,' for simplicity's sake I think objectively we can say that he was at least average in 08. Avg. QBs can win w/the right team. There are tons of "average" nfl players making big contributions on winning teams.

IMO it's hard to say that JC wasn't at least "average" last year. Few TDs, but fewest INTs in the league. The record, 8-8 was average as well.

Following this logic, the team would suffer if he were "cursed with below average play." Now, the subject of curses is for someone else to discuss. :)

JC on either of those teams probably would have done the same thing. Both Atlanta and Baltimore were stronger overall teams than the Skins were last year.

I would say MAtt Ryan had more to do with the Falcons getting in the playoffs then Flacco did with helping the Ravens get in the playoffs. Flacco rode the coat tails of the Ravens defense. Apperently the word around here is Flacco is having a bit of a rough training camp this year.

I was just joking bout cover, i remember being little and whenever my team was on the cover they would lose or it seemed that way. Other posters seem to think JC could have done what these rookies did if he was in the right situation, well this is his year to prove that.

"Hey Jason, can we get you to interview for a story that will headline our training camp coverage this year."

"Nah, I'd rather just hide under a blanket until I have games to play. Thanks for the offer."

Does JC really need to say he feels like a piece of toilet paper? Joe Gibbs a few weeks ago was on the radio and said NFL QB's are going to have to go through some shit. And if you can't deal with it then it's not the job for you. You need to have some thick skin. I think JC needs to listen to Gibbs and not worry about it anymore. Instead he keeps bringing it up. Like I said, get over it already. If you play better Snyder will reward him.

I really hope this is a great year for the Skins and for Campbell. He has handled himself with poise and class and deserves great things.

I agree with you. How can you not like the guy? It's just time for him to take it to the next level.

Flacco was not asked to do a damn thing last year. And I think Baltimore's d-fense had a lot to do with them making the play offs.

The whole quote begins with "I'm fine now". Read the whole article before spewing dumb crap and wasting everyone's time. Also, I doubt other QBs who were on the trading block or lost their starting job didn't at least feel similarly to how Jason did, justified or not.

Huh, he brings it up because the media keeps asking him. If I am JC, I am thinking man I've answered that, lets move on. That he is professional and doesn't blow his top is amazing. I think he should start having sarcastic answers:

reporter:JC So what was your take on the Cutler/Sanchez rumors?

JC: Did they get engaged? I hadn't heard.

reporter: JC So do you feel your play will be better this year or are you too distracted by the offseason?

JC: I'm sorry could you repeat the question I haven't heard it enough
or
JC: I'm sorry could you repeat the question, I was thinking how good Cutler would have looked in Burgundy and Gold.

Reporter: JC Manning just got paid, what do you have to do to get the same type pay.

JC: I was thinking of the UFL, maybe Arena Football, you know somewhere I am appreciated.

Reporters are idiots.

(No offense to any reporters out there, meant in a vague general way, not specific to you)

The timing is bad. The team is in camp now. To me there is no need to bring it up.

Look what happened to Drew Brees a few years ago. Rivers was DRAFTED to take his job. There is no one on the team right now that can probably take JC's job.

JC isn't bringing it up, he's being asked about it in interviews and probably will all season until he's either outta here or has a new deal.

I think he's demonstrated that he handled it like a true pro and has moved on. That doesn't mean he needs to shy away from any questions about it.
