In any case, expect or whatever, we're definitely better than last year when Thrash started the season as our #3 guy. I hope the competition brings out the best in all these guys so not only DT becomes better, but ARE becomes a better slot receiver as well.

In the two practices I saw he looks like he is born again hard. But, why don't we not, how you say, count our eggs before they are chickens. He still has to do it in the games. But everyone around me at practice agreed with me and some of them are there for basically every open practice. I trust their perceptions and they see a completely different guy as well. One of them told me that the word was that DT was playing Mario Kart eight hours a day instead of studying the playbook last year. This year he's taken a more professional attitude. Take that FWIW.

Isn't Kelly doing better than Thomas in camp?

What makes you say that?

I believe Thomas is doing better. But this shouldn't necessarily be seen as a knock on Kelly. He's working more at split-end than flanker. The ultimate goal really is for Kelly and Thomas to be the starters at split-end and flanker, respectively. Thomas has seemingly pushed El to the slot. Maybe one day Kelly will push Moss to the slot and El off the roster.

But that won't be this season. Something tells me Kelly is going to have a season like McCants had a few years back where he has like 6 or 7 TDs but only like 400 yards receiving because all he is is the red-zone endzone threat.

I have read that DT shows a better understanding of the offense than Kelly because DT wasn't sitting around resting his knee as Kelly did for months. Over time that difference may diminish. It would cool to have two young wr's who both make many plays. We would have a quick-strike capability which we have lacked and have it perhaps for years to come.
