I hope this is because of performance rather than potential...but I love this news. He looked like he could be great at times last season, especially on his TD run on the reverse. He has the size and talent to be a big time WR for many years.

Wow, that's pretty big for a second year player. I just hope he can keep the job.

Let's be clear...the article does not say that DT is starting, just that he is on track to do so.
That having been said, it would be huge for the offense if he can step it up this year. I'm definitely rooting for him.
Barring injury or regression, they said, expect Thomas to be the starting Z receiver, or flanker, opposite top wideout Santana Moss, the X receiver, or split end.

??? Didn't you just re-iterate what Lotus said. He has not been named the #2, but that is the expectation that he will, or put another way, he is on track to be named it.
Whatever, if it is based on performance than that IS a good sign.

I like the idea of Thomas and Moss. Add in Cooley and Davis in a 2 TE set with CP in the backfield.

I'm glad to hear this, these rookies are not going to produce unless they get play time.

Well let's hope he can stay healthy and this is real attitude change and not just a momentary uptick. With his speed and size he has the physical tools to be a better option than ARE straight away. It is going to take focus and determination for him to channel that into something though so he has to stay at it for good. But early signs are indeed encouraging. This would be a serious boon if it worked out like we think it can.
I read last year that he knew he had alot to learn and was working hard to get up to the NFL speed. I don't think that his attitude changed over night rather then he learned last year he cannot just show up to camp and become a starter from day one.

The title is a little misleading. He's not the starter yet. It's looking like SO FAR he might be on track. I hope he is but he hasn't won a job yet.

Thank you.
The key word is "expect" to start.

Dude, no offense but before you tell me to learn to read, please look up the word "expect" and see if that means the same as "sure thing."
