Redskins Select Jarmon in 3rd Round of Supplemental Draft

Personally, I like the pick. If this kid played his senior year I bet he would have cost much more than a 3rd. I don't consider this pissing away draft picks. We used the pick on a college player who has a lot of potential.

Like I said earlier this is a good pick by Vinny, for a kid that would've been a 2-3 next April had he played. This just sends a message to Buzbee/Jackson that they might not be around to see camp. It's kinda cool that we have 3 rookies who can contribute right now on D.

On paper our DL is sick and games aren't played on paper but at least this pre-season JC going up against our DL & DF should prepare him for almost anything.

Well outside of Haynesworth I really don't see anyone that is "sick". Montgomery, Carter, Wynn, Goldston, Daniels and Griff are all serviceable. They play well together. Orakpo and this new guy haven't played a down yet.

Great pick. Really surprising, but great. If we can maintain a top 5 def this year and get some TO's then it takes the pressure of having to win the game of JC. Then he can manage and be safe which plays to his strengths.

Stout enough to develop into an effective power end for a base 4-3 team and effective 5-technique for a base 3-4 team.
Versus the run 3 Does an adequate job of staying low and anchoring when teams run at him. Can stack and shed tight ends/tackles. Flashes the ability to shed blocks in time to make plays at the line of scrimmage but is inconsistent in this area. Takes adequate pursuit angles and generally does a good job of closing down cutback lanes but lacks ideal range.
Instincts/competitiveness 4 Can rush too far upfield or collapse inside prematurely, making him vulnerable to misdirection, but his biggest flaw is an inconsistent motor. Appears to take plays off and can gear down when teams run away from him. Flashes a mean streak and plays with emotion at other times. Does an excellent job of getting his hands up when he sees the quarterback start a throwing motion. Does an adequate job of locating the ball carrier.

Anyone with insight on his injuries? Sounds like he had some shoulder issues in 2005 and 2008?

I *LOVE* the prospect of getting a fierce YOUNG D-line. Now we all really wish we could fix the O-line since our offense has been the bigger problem. So does this mean we get an OL (?RT) as a 1st round pick, and then OLB in the 2nd next year? I really hope Campbell is a beast this year so we don't have to use our picks for another project QB..

Well to that I say, our biggest criticism of the FO has been "not building through the draft", giving picks away in trades, and overpaying washed up veterans (and keeping old players).

In the past two drafts, the team has drafted/signed a young defensive line (Orakpo, Jarmon, Big Al who is 28); a young receiving group (Thomas, Kelly, Davis, and Roydell Williams who is only 28); a fairly young DB group (Horton, D. Hall, Barnes, Tryon, who join Rogers and Landry who are also fairly young). I think these have been very good moves, and I think the defense is set for the future (as long as they address the LB position in the next draft/free agency).

I do hope that next year, in addition to addressing the LBs, they would address the offensive line (their 1st rounder needs to be a lineman), and the RB position. So far, I'm fine with the influx of young players they have had, of course now they need to produce and get Ws.
