LOL. That's ok...we know your mind is elsewhere these days. Set a date yet?

Yeah..it's May 22, 2009...thanks for asking about that Smoot.

For some this offseason hasn't really been too interesting to keep up with. I need a preseason game to kick me back in gear : )

But it's not the same at all. If we trade the pick for a player, then another team gets an additional player with our pick. We get a player with our own pick, we just get him 9 months early. It's like Ruhskins said, so many people and fans are conditioned to think that we 'gave up a pick' that anything we do outside of the month of April is a negative.

If the Eagles picked him (and they supposedly put in a 4th round claim) then there would be endless platitudes about how savvy Joe Banner and Andy Reid are for using the supplemental draft and adding a potentially valuable player, not that they threw away a pick.

On the ESPN boards a Pats fan gave kudos to the Redskins for picking Jarmon and how he wishes the Pats had picked him. Can you imagine if this had happened? There would have been an orgy of sports talking heads stepping over each other to praise Darth Hoody. And in here there would have been a ton of posts about how the Pats FO always does everything right and how they wish Darth Hoody was running this team.

Here ya go.....

“Every time you make love the
first year of your marriage, put a penny in a jar. After that first year,
take a penny out. You’ll never run out.”

Well to that I say, our biggest criticism of the FO has been "not building through the draft", giving picks away in trades, and overpaying washed up veterans (and keeping old players).

In the past two drafts, the team has drafted/signed a young defensive line (Orakpo, Jarmon, Big Al who is 28); a young receiving group (Thomas, Kelly, Davis, and Roydell Williams who is only 28); a fairly young DB group (Horton, D. Hall, Barnes, Tryon, who join Rogers and Landry who are also fairly young). I think these have been very good moves, and I think the defense is set for the future (as long as they address the LB position in the next draft/free agency).

I do hope that next year, in addition to addressing the LBs, they would address the offensive line (their 1st rounder needs to be a lineman), and the RB position. So far, I'm fine with the influx of young players they have had, of course now they need to produce and get Ws.

Time will tell if any of the draft picks pan out. Most of them haven't seen the field yet so we don't know if these are good moves or not.

So who are the Skins going to cut from their Dline with Jarmon on board? I would have to think that Alexander is safe since he has more versatility as he can also play offensive line if the injury bug hits. I think Daniels is safe since he plays well against the run and is one of Coach Blatche's favorite players. So is it Wynn or Buzbee who gets the ax or both? Is there any restrictions as far as placing either on the practice squad (although I don't see Wynn accepting a practice squad position and he would just retire.)

Both. I think Buzbee is as good as gone. And even though we all know Wynn is a great locker room guy he just doesn't have the athletism to play DE.
