Best thing that ever happened to the fantasy value of Demetrius Williams.

I wonder how much of it is fueled by him still being emotional over the death of his friend Steve McNair

So now what? Boldin? Braylon? Burress?

So now what? Boldin? Braylon? Burress? You would think they have to do something but none of those guys would truly be able to replace Derrick Mason in the offense.
Then again, this is less about Mason and more about pairing a legitimate NFL target with Mark Clayton, who seems to be a deep threat and very little else.
I'd go get Amani Toomer or even Ike Hillard on a two year deal.

Mason was a great player.. McNair's death probably is one of the reasons why he retires; he might want to see what's out there in life more than football?
To replace him, Toomer would make more sense, I guess.. Unless Ravens wants to trade for a player then I could see them going for Boldin.. He's best player who's on the market, compared to others..

He had also been trying to get an extension done over the offseason so yeah something changed his mind.

Mason was the only legitimate target they had last year. Flacco looked for him every time he was in a tough spot. If they don't get somebody else it's gonna be bad. I think Flacco and the Ravens will struggle next year.

I think the whole team is going to struggle. I don't see the being the same team Defensively since their D-coach left. I see them struggling to find an identity on D. On Offense this may be their catalyst. Atleast for the moment.
He hasn't filed his retirement papers with the league yet, maybe he just wants the summer off from training camp?

Apparently on NFL Radio he wouldn't dismiss the possibility of playing this season, but he said something to the effect of "that's the way I'm leaning right now."
The "leaning right now" part seems telling to me. I'm sure he's going through a lot losing a teammate and friend in Steve McNair and just may feel like he can't give everything that it would take to prepare and play football this season. I'm not sure, that's all just speculation on my part, but it seems plausible.
