Not their best effort but you're talking about an aggressive and fast Cowboys defense.

The protection could have been better at times, but at other times it was very solid.

Uhh, the "old man" got smoked for a crucial sack late in the game against Greg Ellis. He was part of a line that got burned for five sacks, and couldn't get it done in short yardage situations. Not their best effort.

Ray Brown is the 3rd string RT and 40 something years old. Dallas had the #1 defense last year and got to one game from the super bowl largely on the strength of their defense. So he got beat for ONE sack in two starts. How many plays did he participate in and did not give up a sack? Nobody is perfect.

The short yardage issue is not soley the offensive lines fault.

wow.
cant believe none of you guys mentioned CLINTON PORTIS.

he had an AWESOME game. he played EXACTLY how Gibbs wanted him (except at the goaline, but thats partly his frame, partly the Oline's fault). he would eke out 4-5yds after contact, always jumping 3 yds north as he's falling down. even Madden had to say it. he caught passes, and have you guys noticed his blocks all season?? HE IS NOT AFRAID.

i've NEVER seen such a talented athlete in a Skins uniform. what a frickin WEAPON.

#2) We really missed#56 Lavar Arrington.

Hell yeah we missed him. Marshall only had one tackle!

Positives:

#1. This team will never give up. Never count them out of a game. They're playing with heart.

#2. Clinton Portis, Clinton Portis, Clinton Portis. Nuff said.

#3. Offense is starting to come around. Still a few things to iron out, but the passing game was whole lot better this game.

#4. Brunell is true leader and warrior. He played his ass off. Yes, he made mistakes, but he kept coming back

#5. Even though the defense gave up 3 tds. They still played well enough to keep us in the game. Mind you the first td was total BS.

#6. Glad to see that Thrash was used more this game. He needs more looks. Also, Cooley made a couple of good grabs......he needs more balls thrown at him also.

Classic Gibbs is to come out after half time and turn his team around. The offense got a boost from Gardner, Portis, Cooley and Thrash. Thrash is a Redskin by nature. He made three catches in a row and proved he belongs on this team. The play calling in the second half is what we should get used to seeing in the near future. While Gibbs wanted to start slow, he realized that this team can protect the passer and allow the TE's to get more involved. Let's look to scalp the Brown and get back to 500.

Huge positive from last night was the absence of a lot of stupid penalties - false start and lining up in the neutral zone. Those are killers; the Skins avoided them for the most part.

Frankly, I thought Marshall played a very solid game in pass coverage.

I'm hoping last night will put an end to the stupid "If you take away his 64 yard run he's only averaging 3 yards per carry crap".

He had a solid night and consistently cranked out yardage. He can definitely do it all, run, catch, block, line up wide, etc. A great team player.

I don't think you can blame the offensive line for anything last night, most of the sacks were on blitzes and Mark was standing in the pocket for a long time and should have gotten the ball out sooner.

he's got all the intangibles too. you can feel his presence through the TV, imagine what he's like in the lockeroom or around the facilities. smart, always upbeat, funny, supremely confident without a speck of that ultra annoying arrogance of a Deion or TO. you see how he took that 2 fumble game last week? brushed his shoulder off, 'even Barry and Walter fumbled, it happens' , he can't be denied. what a HUGE find for our team. on the field and off.

good RIDDANCE Champ. hope you're enjoying those new contact rules...
