you think spurrier was better? think he woulda put up 420 yards (with 94 on the ground)?
this team looked good, but they screwed up the no huddles basically every time, and the time outs were wasted, but they clicked today... the improvement from the giants game is very noticeable (our D wasn't as good with missing personell and a better QB/WR group across from them)...

we'll get it, i saw a playoff team tonight, though they still have some work ahead...

some hope, last year we would have lost that game by 20....if gardner is one more foot to the left, we tie it and who knows next...

It's frustrating to keep losing games like this. Parcells gambled with Richie Anderson and won. This is not what we need in the beginning of our season.

The team showed improvement tonight despite the overreactions on this board, and others from what I'm seeing.

The offense moved the ball well at the end of the first half and it carried over to the 2nd half. Brunell finally looked comfortable, Gardner finally stopped dropping balls, things are on their way to coming together, guys.

Did they make some mistakes, hell yeah. The clock management was poor and some of the play calls were bad choices especially in the red zone, but overall, I liked what I saw tonight, and it was against a very good defense too.

We're still coming together, still a few more weeks away from firing on all cylinders.

You know how we've only beaten the cowboys once in 13 or 14 games? Mind reminding me who that coach was? Thanks.

Here's my answer, the guy has been away from coaching for 12 years, of course he's going to be rusty in some areas. It's not going to all come back 100% perfectly right away.

Just as the offense needs time to come together (which it started to tonight), we should grant the same time and patience to Gibbs to rediscover his coaching skills.

I think being rusty is not an accurate term to use when describing Gibbs coaching tonight. He did not listen to Gregg Williams's suggestion not to call a timeout and he did. Running only Portis is a roadmap to self-destruction. It should have come back based on what Parcells is known for doing in the fourth quarter. How many tapes does one have to review to see the obvious?

This is going to be tough to stomach for some people, so Im just going to go ahead and say it. What has made Gibbs such a good coach? Im young, and I started being a redskins fan around 95 (great time to start I know), and my whole life I have been force fed how great a coach Joe Gibbs was.
Here is what I saw tonight, disorganization, questionable play calling, horrible clock management. Those timeouts? . Somebody please give me some hope
your youth has made you impatient that's all.gibbs first year the skins started 0-5,the won 8 out of 11 to finish 8-8.this team is just learning the offense and learning to jell together.i think that they are becoming more trustful and useful with it,the skins will win under gibbs if we are all patient.i think his record gives him the benefit of the doubti agree the timeout handling was awful, the only 2 bad plays i saw called wee the 2 on the goal line before halftime.they played their best game of the year so far, imo.brunnel passed for over 300 yds and portis had over 90 on the ground, and there were no turnovers.the skins will win next week,as for this year i think an 8-8 record is about the best we can hope on,but who knows?this is the nfl.

to reply to your question on "why is Gibbs such a good coach?" Well let's start by saying that most coaches would have been out of the game in the 4th quarter. Not only did they come close but they improved 500% from last weeks game. Do you think that is just because of the players? Hmm..I don't think so. I think the Coaching Staff has a lot to do with it. The coaching staff didn't lose the game, the officials did! As you will see in my thread, 2 calls that caused a 14 point swing lost us the game. Not the Coaches, Not the Players and most definitely not the Fans. You will see how good a coach Gibbs is as the season progresses. They aren't even close to running their full offensive scheme yet. If you go back and look at game films from the old days, you will see a well organized team with alot of different plays. Don't worry, you will see the True Gibbs soon enough

Just be patient

I don't see why running only Portis was a bad thing. The guy is always a play away from taking it to the house, it's not like he was overworked or anything, he had 23 carries and 3 catches, the man can handle that kinda load. c'mon now.

hell if gardner had had the full use of both hands it would have been tied.

some hope, last year we would have lost that game by 20....if gardner is one more foot to the left, we tie it and who knows next...
