I love CP's caveated statement in the Times:
"How this story came about, I have no idea," Portis said. "There's nothing going on. There's no beef between me and Coach Zorn. We're on good terms at this present moment. There's no problem."
I hope CP & Zorn stay on good terms for a lot longer than "this present moment".

I don't ever recall Riggins being disrespectful to coaches. A pain the ass sometimes? Yep. Not having any respect for authority? I don't ever remember that. Zorn is on a short leash and CP knows it.
Two different worlds. If we had the reporters snooping around back in the 70's and 80's like we do today people would be shocked at what went on. All this reporting is turning men into little wimps because they cannot say how they feel without some nosey reporter blowing things up. Who gives a crap what CP says as long as on Sunday he puts on his gear and plays his best. Back in the days you had a ton of players who played with other guys they hated and it never seemed to be a problem. I bet if these reporters acked like this back then a few would get their butts kicked by a player or two.

Whether PFT has reliable sources or not, the tone of Portis' comments in the wash times is a bit crypitc, as Slingin sammy noted. He kind of says he's had issues w/Zorn but now they're "trying."
I do think this could be an issue in the season, but the good news is that maybe dealing w/it early on will lead to some sort of improved communication once the games begin. I think the real test will be Zorn giving about 15 -20% of CP's carries to Betts. I think CP carries it too much & needs to be saved for late in the year, but I don't think he wants to give up his #s.

Time will tell if florio's telling the truth when the redskins lose or struggle for the first time because of offensive problems (particularly in the running game). But hopefully this won't be revealed for awhile because that would mean that they are winning and/or doing well in the running game.

I'd like to see Portis in a Detroit Lions uniform, to be perfectly honest!

If that means Calvin Johnson and a high pick in B & G then I'm all for it too.

Wow, really?
Are we really letting PFT create the drama that they have always been trying to do? I never thought one unfounded Florio (i know that's redundant) article would have fans on this site claiming that they would like to see CP in a detroit lions jersey? Is it really that easy? I am very surprised at the reactions of this seemingly pointless thread.

I expect Betts to get more carries this year and I expect Portis to throw someone under the bus (Zorn) at some point this year.

I really don't understand how anyone gives Mike Florio any time of "inside" source. It just seems like this guy hates football. I've seen him shit on a number of teams and I'm sure his ridicule of players is not popular among the league.

Wow. PFT went a tad defensive no??
ProFootballTalk.com - Portis Denies Any Current Problems With Zorn (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/06/22/portis-denies-any-current-problems-with-zorn/)
Wow is right! "Clinton, we don't give a shit. We use the stuff we think our readers will find interesting." Translation: Any "rumors" that might turn a head or two (aka pull some hits to our website), BS or not, we're gonna throw them at the wall and hope they stick. And obviously you give a shit, Florio. Otherwise you wouldn't have typed up such a defensive response. Wait a second, DC Pro Sports Report's "Defensive Ned" poll just found it's winner!
If you looked up "hack" in the dictionary, you'd find a Florio avatar right next to the definition. What a mega-douche.
