He has been a naughty boy (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/16/AR2009061602746.html)...would have given him a pass if it wasn't for these little gems:

“The effort to pass a constitutional amendment reaffirming marriage as being between a man and a woman only is being undertaken strictly as a defense of marriage against the attempt to redefine it and, in the process, weaken it,” Ensign said. “Marriage is an extremely important institution in this country and protecting it is, in my mind, worth the extraordinary step of amending our constitution.”"There's too many people that paint with a broad brush that we're all corrupt, we're all amoral. … And having these kinds of things happen, whether it's a Republican or Democratic senator — we certainly have had plenty of Democratic scandals in the past — we need people who are in office who will hold themselves to a little higher standard."“I came to that conclusion recently, and frankly it’s because of what he put his whole Cabinet through and what he has put the country through,” Ensign said Thursday, becoming the first member of the Nevada delegation to call for Clinton to quit. “He has no credibility left.”

A hypocritical politician with a previously undiscovered checkered past. What a shocker. Yawn. This guy is Eliot Spitzer. Except it's a Republican this time. Stop traffic.

I wonder if he'll pull a Blago and try to start a radio show about it.

I don't get why we all care so much about these types of things anymore? I mean a guy cheating on his wife...shocker!!

The reason this story is somewhat interesting is that Ensign is a Republican whose name has recently been mentioned as a 2012 possibility for president. There have been some who looked at him as a standard bearer for conservatism.

So much for that. This is just another example of how the National Republican Party is a complete dumpster fire right now.

I cannot lay judgement without a picture of the lady he had the affair. A pic of his wife would also be helpful in making the dicision.

I hadn't heard this guy mentioned as a 2012 posibility until the scandal broke. He's a minor character. Men like strange. Some just dream about it and some find themselves in a position to act on it. Obviously it discredits him but it's not a huge deal anymore, is it?

Also, the quotes you put up hardly go directly to the point. I mean, he didn't say "Anyone who commits adultery should be shot." If he had screwed a dude, I suppose his opposition to homosexual marriage would be more relevant. If Barney Frank cheats on his boyfriend, you know, the one who works at Fannie Mae, would that make his position on the issue less valid?

If you're going to preach about sanctity of marriage it might behoove you to practice some sanctity. This logic clearly went right past you, it seems this is a recurring theme with you so it's no biggie. I hear Rudy and Newt are also preaching about sanctity too.

There's nothing sanctimonious about marriage...just something to do.

I suppose it's a huge deal now, no? (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/24748.html). Sex, power, money....drugs TBD.

Why does this thread not surprise me, and by whom.?.? Ye should not cast any stones. Your party (the jackassacrats) is doing a fine job of killing any kind of economic growth.
