Cherilus should win the job but I wouldnt be shocked if Jansen beat him out. I never underestimate a man on a mission. Jansen wants to prove everyone wrong and it wouldnt shock me if with a new team he does just that.

My bet is Jansen will have a hard time making any NFL team besides the Redskins. Even the Lions.

Justin Smiley was signed by Parcells at 12:20am. This make any other situation, such as the Haynesworth deal, laughable when it is called tampering.

For real. It's gotta be well know that tampering in these cases is pretty widespread. How can anyone actually come to terms on multi-year (and often complex) contracts in minutes if there wasn't prior discussion?

Maybe. Im pretty sure though he is solid depth at the very least for the Lions. I think if he signs he will easily make the roster for the regular season. If he was playing in DC for the vet min he would still be on the team imo.

Yeah I feel the same way dude. Where does the time go?

That 1999 Draft was insane the way Casserly wheeled and dealed. The 1999 and 2000 drafts should of built a dynasty for the Redskins. Im still upset how the Skins didnt take those two drafts and win for a decade.

Its official....

Lions signed OL Jon Jansen to a one-year, $845,000 contract.

Jansen is 33 and declining, but the Redskins shouldn't have let him get away. He is still an effective run blocker and was only costing them $1.35 million. The Lions got an even better bargain and could use Jansen at right tackle or guard, where his pass protection shortcomings would be less problematic.

Tampering. Wouldn't they have to know he was getting cut to even start to begin talks with him or they just got lucky and picked the right guy to tamper with. I'd say its a better chance that the skins maybe tried to trade Jansen first and the Lions knew there was a good chance he was getting dumped.

Glad to hear Jansen caught on with another team quickly. Good for the Lions too, Jansen is now the best offensive lineman that they got and he'll do alot of good there.

I'm glad rotoworld thinks it's okay to keep a player who can do half his job "effectively".

"We're sorry you have two broken legs and a concussion Jason but we thought since Jon could still run block effectively we'd keep him around despite the fact that you'd get killed every time you try to drop back."
