Jansen's going to make for a great analyst after he retires.
I HATE like hell to see him go, but your are right, he will.
It had to happen.......Thanx JJ
Brian Orakpo 05-29-2009, 06:46 PM According comcast there saying Jansen has already signed with Detroit
Nice to see he didnt have to wait long to join a new team. The Lions are a good fit and its cool because hes going home. Glad to see everything worked out.
Missin21 05-29-2009, 07:42 PM Wow. :(
He's been a staple at RT here for so long, I can't even remember who it was HE replaced. He is a class act & great guy. His character & leadership will be missed.
That being said, it was WAY overdue & I'm surprised that this didn't happen last year, but maybe the FO knew more about what they were doing then we originally thought. If Heyer got injured after we had released Jansen last year with little to no depth, that would have really hurt. I'm glad that we were graced with his presence on our OL for the past decade & I wish him all the blessings & fortune he is deserving of.
This does bode well for us, in the long run. Younger & hopefully more agile & talented OL means more protection for Campbell & better blocking for Portis. This, of course, means that Samuels better stay on his toes...and off his heels.

Going back a while, how old are you son, lol.....Ed Simmons was on the way out around 97 or so, wasn't Shar Pourdanesh....Norvell's guy at RT in 98 before JJ?
That was the same time we had just acquired Dana Stubblefield, and we also had Big Daddy Dan on the D-line. And GUS was wrecking the bus......or at least his head into the goal post!

Shar Pourdanesh...wow, that takes me back. :laughing- I am 35, pops. And glad that someone was keeping up with the RT position before me. :)
And Gus didn't run his head into the goal post, it was the padding on the cement wall in the endzone that he headbutt.
I had the pleasure of being at the ONLY playoff game that FedEx has held when Gus was the QB in Detroit & I remember signs all over the stadium reading "Hey Gus! Hit head here!" with a big target &/or bullseye on it...EVERYWHERE! From the endzone walls to the upper decks...just lined with them. It was hilarious. The very first play was a sack & we didn't sit down until after halftime. The place was going nuts!
The only game that I have been to that was better was 11.5.06. That is my favorite game with my favorite Redskins moment of all time. Of course, Sean Taylor was involved with that moment. Nothing like watching the Cowboys fans' faces turn so quickly like that...
I'm sorry, I got off topic. My bad. :silly:

Can't be forgiven so quickly! Try to stay on track next time.....heck your much older than me old timer, that was my mistake.....lol
I actually have a reason for my brain fart.....kinda, its like golf if I don't have a reason for a bad day at the course I'll find one or many.
I was at the game with 4 of my SKIN fiends! And we took 2 g girl foes along......that was the most boring game, was just hoping it would eventually end and us WIN SOMEHOW. BUT NO, not even with OT required and big Jeff at the helm due to lug nut jamming his neck into the wall, which by the way was the highlight of the game unfortunately. (7-7 Tie, just awful)
GMScud 05-29-2009, 10:03 PM Zorn Explains
"Heyer has really improved himself," Zorn said. "He hasn't missed anything in our offseason program. He's trying to change his body style and the way he moves. I have seen some improvement. He's got a ways to go. That's why I wouldn't clearly name him the starter. He's working on his technique, his strength, his suddenness. Obviously, there's a lot to work on, but he's on his way."
Zorny loves that word, "suddenness."
Sad to see Jansen go as a man and a Redskin, but as a player... well, we all knew this was coming. I just didn't think it was going to be this year.
Pocket$ $traight 05-29-2009, 10:22 PM Obviously this was overdue. I appreciate what Jansen gave the Redskins over the years but that last contract he signed was simply a terrible mistake. Best of luck to him and I am more happy that they are letting Zorn do his job.
Hopefully he will earn a starting spot when we face Detroit I can't wait to watch Carter, Orakpo, and or Phat Albert eat him alive.
Nflnick11 05-29-2009, 10:35 PM Ya I don't know which one I'd be more sad about; not playing for the skins any more or playing for the winless lions...
skinsnut 05-29-2009, 11:25 PM Wow...I am gunna miss Jansen...I thought he was a classic Redskin...
I am really glad he had the opportunity to work with Gibbs and Bugel.
That is some solid company.
Best wishes Jon...we all thank you for kicking butt with 8 fingers.
You are a class act...with no attention requested....a Classic Redskin.
