For what it's worth, the Cap Sheets include $2.0 million dollars worth of roster bonuses to Jansen that he will not earn. However media reports say that the Skins only owed Jansen $1 million in roster bonus. The $6.0 million in dead cap is not in dispute.
So the difference is a $2.7 million net cap hit if the Cap Sheets are correct, but it's $3.7 million of a hit if the media reports are correct.

I really hope the FO acted with class in talking with him about the release, I certainly don't want to see him become a bitter guy and bash Snyder for the next 5-10 years. I also wonder if (conspiracy alert) ESPN980 was told to make room for him when they released BMitch
It sounds like they did it the right way:
Redskins Release Long-Time Right Tackle Jansen (http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Redskins_Release_Long_Time_Right_Tackle_Jansen_385 41.jsp)
"Jansen met with Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder, head coach Jim Zorn and executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato at Redskins Park on Friday morning.
'I’ve developed a close relationship with Jon and his family over the last 10 years and I have the utmost respect for him as a person and a player,' Snyder said. 'He has been an important part of our organization for the past decade. We wish Jon and his family the very best.'”

Yes at this time there is no cap, but they will get something worked out. The nfl players and owner want to work something out.
wanna bet? I think enough teams have prepared for the uncapped year that it will take a miracle to make it happen now. No way in hell does Danny Boy vote for a cap unless the agreement is astoundingly one-sided in the owner's favor.

I hope we have someone that will fill the loss in the run game

It's not a loss. He wasn't going to play anyways. It's not like we rottate in our best run blocking Linemen on running downs.

Danny Boy is one of 32 owners in the league and in the minority that would want no cap, if he wants no cap. The problem is the rookies get to much money to sign. Even the players agree with this and want some of that money to go to veterans. I dont think it is a given. I think them cutting Jansen is in some way evidence that they will get a deal done.

Man, didn't really see that coming, I figured next year but with their talks of versatility/backup C or guard he'd still be here this year, especially with the cap hit. Jon's a tough guy, not as consistent anymore but still tough and sounded like he had put some effort into this offseason and was determined to win the spot; said he'd be playing no matter what team it was for.
I'm kind of neutral on the move right now.

I guess you assume it's Zorn because what owner is going to be out there right before training camp cutting players. Even Ceratto wouldn't have his mind on that at the moment, unless it was an afterthought and the cap guys said it'd make sense.
