Man I was just reading an article about how athletes have to protect themselves and watch where they go. I really hope he's ok, but we need to find a way to get through to these guys without having annual examples of what can happen when things go wrong. On a side note it's looking more and more like all NFL players should avoid Vegas. Between Pacman, Levi Jones, Joey Porter, and now Shockey.

New Orleans Saints' Jeremy Shockey treated, released from hospital - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4203459)

He was at a pool party at the Hard Rock Cafe casino with a bunch of other NFL players. He became dehydrated and he just got released and he's ok

I will say while living in Az and knowing that vegas weather is similar, it is very easy to become dehydrated. Sweat evaporates instantly and you dont even realize it. Glad to see this wasn't from irresponsible criminal behavior, you open these links and expect the worst.

Became dehydrated?? Maybe from getting hammered drunk in the desert sun all day long?? Shockey has always been a punk, and he's made no secret about being a booze hound. How ironic that the party he was attending was called "Rehab."

I'm no fan of Shockey, but seriously come on. Getting dehydrated happens to everyone. It's happened to me, and I'm sure anyone here that's spent any significant time at the beach, or in hot weather in general has had it happen to them. He didn't do anything wrong. He was just at a party, doing what people do at parties. Give the guy a break, don't hate on somebody just for the sake of hating on them.

I'm not hating on him just for the sake of hating on him. He's boys with the Maloof brothers and loves to party in Vegas. He's made no secret about liking the booze. Not to mention he just has a punk attitude in general. I don't like the guy and I have my reasons. It's not just for the sake it.

I never said he did anything wrong in this case. I have no issue with guys partying in the offseason. But anyone who thinks he was dehydrated from anything other than drinking heavily is pretty naive.

BTW, I've spent significant time at the beach (and on occasion drinking more than a beer or two at said beach), in the hot sun, and playing sports my whole life, and it's never really happened to me. Maybe to some degree, but not to the point where I've passed out and/or needed to be taken to the hospital. Shockey is a pro athlete and he played his college ball in Miami, one of the hottest college FB environments in the country. He knows damn well how to stay hydrated. Come on.
