I just used hydrocodon for some dental work I had done. It took the edge off the pain but didn't totally eliminate it not last until the next dosage. You must have to take a handfull of these to get any buzz....which I won't try.

Interesting. Everyone I know that has ever taken the drug, has said that they barely needed any to get off on it. Vicodin is very powerful & fun...I WAS addicted to it for a while a long time ago. Didn't need treatment, didn't need counselors, just needed to not have it around & available to me. I can take it now without any recourse or "relapse".

Now, I have a problem with the belief that there is a serious addiction problem in this country to these things, mainly because of the anti-marijuana ads we see. Total lies & falsehoods to get people who don't know any better to freak out & keep these things out of peoples hands. Now, when someone actually needs these things for actual pain, like 2 bulging discs at the base of my spine, they want to give my Ibuprophren to ease the pain. That doesn't really do anything. There was NO indication that I was addicted before because I really wasn't getting them from doctors like that, so unless I say something, they don't know. And I didn't, so they don't, so there is no reason why they would be so stingy when they can clearly see that people are in pain.

That being said, this is clearly a case of addiction when you are stealing from others to get the drugs, regardless of what that drug is. I feel for him, because an addiction to this can be damning. It almost ruined a couple of my relationships, so I can relate to his problem. But he was an asshole, so I don't feel too bad for him.

Im confused you say you were addicted and complaining that its hard for people to get their hands on these drugs. Sure some people can quite drugs and alcohol cold turkey, others break into peoples home and raid medicine cabinets.

While the news does like to fearmonger no matter what station, to think there isnt a drug problem(meth, prescription pills) you are underestimating a bit.

I don't think that weed should be illegal but I've known A LOT of people who knew they had drug tests coming up either a single one or multiple through probation, that failed due to weed. So maybe it's not an addiction, but there's something that keeps a crapload of people from stopping even when they know they need to.

LOL. What I mean is that, if I go to a doctor tonite because I can't walk due to my back problems, chances are I will either not get any pain killers or I will get such a weak dosage that I would need to take scores of them for them to have any kind of effect. I don't go looking for these drugs outside of doctors & when I was getting them before, it was because I knew someone who was getting them thru their doctors & was willing to offer them to me to help me because I was having problems getting them from doctors then, as well.

If you want to find drugs on the streets, it's easy, no doubt. But if you are trying to do it the right way & actually trying to get help, doctors...well, the system is set up so that everyone thinks you're an addict as soon as you mention you want any kind of narcotic for pain. Be it Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycontin...they all think you're an addict. What's the point in making something that is only going to be looked at as a problem everytime someone asks for it & then do so little for the people who really need it? I've seen situations where a person was able to "score" a crap load of these meds with little trouble or need at all & others, including myself, that really DO need that help sometimes & have such a hard time getting them. It makes no sense to me.

I apologize if I misrepresented. I am not saying that there isn't a drug problem, but simply that the numbers are padded. It's easier to make your point when you can show numbers, but when those numbers are inflated for the purpose of scaring people & they are the ones who come up with the numbers...who can argue? The problem, IMO, is not nearly as bad as they make it out to be. I was simply using the fear ads they run about marijuana as an example. They can't be honest about that, they sure as hell aren't going to be honest about anything else in the same arena. At least, I see no reason to believe them.

BTW, I love your signature & couldn't agree more.
