I sent my cable company an email and this was the response:

I know we have been looking at that channel and would like to add it. We have been in contact with them and are trying to reach an agreement. I do not know if we will reach an agreement or when we would add it if we do. We would more than likely put out an ad or some sort of notice if we do add that channel. Please feel free to contact us anytime to check and also visit our website for additional information.

So Basically, I don't know anything more than I know before I sent an email. I think My company is a division of Time Warner but I could be wrong.

It's official now. NFL Network is moving to a Digital Classic tier on Comcast. 10 year agreement I believe.

Does this mean the $5/month fee they charge me for the NFL Network will stop? OR are they just gonna jack up my the fees I pay for the basic service?

I am stoked to be getting the Red Zone channel when it finally comes down the pike. I don't think we'll see it this coming season but supposedly in the next few years it'll find a spot on Comcast's lineup. That's pretty cool.

RZ might still stay on the sports tier package though

In the Baltimore area, if you want NFL Network, it is a $5.00 charge over and above your basic service. It's like Showtime, HBO or any other premium channel (though they generally cost ~13/mo). I debated cancelling it, but it's kinda like renting a movie a month and for 60$ a year I can justify it.

Plus, its a relatively safe channel for kids. I have it so if some crap comes on during a commercial (particularly, strangely enough, during football games) that is too violent/scary/sexually charged for a 2 and/or 6 year old, I just flip to NFL Network. Better that than flip to Thomas the Tank Engine and be stuck there (Daaaad, I want choo-choo - waaaaaaaaaaah).

I didn't realize that all you would get would be NFL Network. I figured there must be more channels included, but what do I know.
